Getting more mods wont help.. where i came from we just formed small groups and blocked/ ignored known people who would try to cause discord/conflict between the group... we had a lot of those, and we had no mods, but we kept them in check by just getting most of the people in the group to just ignore the offenders, and to never post on their threads, leaving them to just sit there by themselves.. it worked out pretty well to be honest.. usually what would happen is the ones on ignore would often go and fight with the other offenders because those were the only people they could get a reaction out of. Sometimes they would make new accounts and try us again, but after they show their colors they just get ignored again...
Some people are not who they say they are on this site and they come on only to disrupt, confuse and cause chaos.
Kind of like how if you don't feed a troll they start eating each other?

My advice to anyone bothered by the BDF, dont visit the BDF.

I pretty much never visit with it just because I know I wont be able to keep up with it : p

pretty much .. the trolls i used to deal with used to sit there for about 16+ hours a day trying to start stuff... when they got put on the ignore list all they could do was sit there and argue with themselves while the rest of us just did our own thing and moved on without them. After a few months they started dropping like flies because i guess it was getting boring for them.

After 11 months here, I realized that the BDF has serious issues.
Often threads are started that are hijacked by folks who want to teach their doctrine.
They use someone else's thread as a platform to push their personal beliefs.
If that happens to a thread I start, I should have the option to close that thread or at least ask a mod to close it in a reasonable time frame.
I enjoy Bible discussion, that is why I joined, but there is very little on the BDF. It is mostly opinions and assumptions and when you disagree it becomes personal attacks and even questioning the intellect of others.
This may be a harsh statement, but in my opinion, the BDS is a joke and should be eliminated.
There is nothing here for me. It is a waste of my time. It is very depressing.
So yes, I'm gone.

if you feel it's best, may the Lord bless you and keep you. (still wishing you'd rethink it.)

you WILL be missed!

As someone who agrees with you completely about BDF, and has been known to go off once or twice, (and if you are thinking "only once or twice?" then I dare you to count up how often it really was :p) a reminder -- there are other forums on here. (News Forum doesn't count. It's the same as BDF.)

Considering as hard as we try, those who like to bully others on BDF still like to bully others on BDF. If we leave it just to them, maybe they won't notice and we get to keep the other forums.

This is not an all or nothing thing. I have managed to spend 75% of my time on here today without BDF.

Oh! And as for mods? The truth is if they disagree with you, they simply move on to the next problem. They only respond to what is important to them/this site. It's a forest fire and they're peeing on the small things they can put out. (Hey. I tried cleaning that up. How did I do?)

Whoops. I goofed. I don't completely agree with you after all. I didn't notice the word "often" in your first sentence. Drop that word and then it's complete.

And, BTW, Bible Discussion comes in other forums too.

This place is fine. Ya'll need to just accept that this is the way it is on public forums. This place is actually fairly well self-moderated compared to other forums out there.

I have been to other forums and am well aware of the similarity of heated debates and unrequired blows at each other but only those who are content with the way things are accept the way they are and I cannot do that because the church is in a state where we have forgotten our first love we have forgotten what it means to be Christian we have forgotten what love is and what standing for the truth is.

Instead we are christians by title only we speak of God and teach of him yet barely know him we claim to be love we teach love yet the fruits of love is but a shriveled pear in most hearts and confuse debating and proving ourselves right and attacking others with standing for the truth. This is not what I was taught a Christian is this not what I was taught love is and it's not what I was taught standing for the truth is I refuse to be the average Christian so I cannot accept this is just the way it is.

We may be in the world but we are not of the world so accepting this is just how public forums are cannot reside in our hearts, change is possible even if it seems impossible do you think that Rosa parks just accepted the way things were? do you think Martin Luther King just accepted the way things were? It only takes one heart to make a change it only takes a spark to make the fire burn

Sometimes "love' needs to be tough. That's the truth. (ref. Jesus, Paul)

I wish we could do that here, but the problem here is there are several of them, & we can't get most of the good people to leave them alone..... me included.

But if we could do that, I would jump on board with it.:)

How do we get Mods attention?
I have contacted them 3 times in the last 2 days and they are ignoring me.
You can send me a CC mail directly I try to get a response out quickly but sometimes it may take a bit for me to get back to people depending on the circumstances If you are using the "Contact us" tab it can take RoboOp quite a while to get to it sometimes.

Any mod could look at the titles in the BDF & skim through a couple & immediately deal with troublemakers.....

I have been in the BDF & had 8-10 tabs up at the same time, skimming thru them, looking for answers to my posts. It is not that hard.

Perhaps the real answer is the mods have been told to leave the BDF alone. I can't see any other logical explanation.

I've thought about leaving too. I'm not on here as much as I used to be. Some days I just don't see the point.

You know Stephen, being around here for a really long time doesn't get you a free pass to dictate to this site how we should run it.

Invariably I find that the ONLY posts that you report are posted by persons who disagree with your personal doctrinal bent while persons who agree with you doctrinally seem to get a free pass from you clicking the report button no matter how badly they behave.

You know this site has the option to form small group forums. I don't think many people use that option for discussion and bible study.

It's not the way the forums are run but the way people who want to see a change respond to others that need to be changed.

If people just get mad and upset and leave because their thread is hijacked then there will never be a change.

Only when God's people are on their knees in prayer (figureatively speaking, I know some with medical problems who can't kneel)...only,through prayer can we see the power of God change lives.

It's not the forum that needs changing but all of us who visit it.

Can we display wisdom from above by treating others with gentleness and love? Yeah some folks make it real hard to love them.

They are too easy to forget about. People join, then forget they exist and the groups die off. Also I suspect many in the BDF would be unsatisfied with a group of people of the same beliefs. There's no one to yell at and criticize and correct then.

True, but just wanted to make people aware that they have that option if it was truly their desire to have online small group fellowship and bible study.

Which is exactly why I so often say it begins and ends with us, if more people in the forums were only willing to change and to speak debate and respond how Jesus taught us then change would happen even if slowly yet surely.

You know....I have dealt out some heat and for sure have been dealt heat in the BDF....all I know is this...being easily offended is a sure sign of immaturity....we are ALL adults for the most part, we all have our beliefs (right or wrong) and if we cannot deal with a little heat on a WONDERFUL SITE that allows us ALL to express our views then what will we DO when it gets really HOT in this world for believers......As far as the MODS....I have never had any real issue with them....they do a good service and only step in after much patience and longsuffering....sure we can all be a little more tactful in what we say or how we say it.....one thing for sure....ONE of the biggest signs of a believer is to allow LOVE to cover a MULTITUDE of sin...sharp words or maybe even a name or two should slide off of the backs of everyone on this site that claims JESUS......JUST SAYING.......

Peace to ALL....even if we disagree.....!
