Hahahaha looks like when it rains it poors huh? Sorry.

So my dad has been having weird indigestion for like 3 weeks now, and has been having horrible stomach troubles during that period. He decided to do an endoscopic procedure to figure out what was going on, but when they went in there - despite not eating for like 6+ hours - there was still food in there. Meaning that his digestion isn't working how it should.

I don't know what it means. Mom was thinking maybe there's a mass in there and that's causing issues.

Please pray guys, I have no idea what to do but wait with my mom. Please pray with my mom too.

Lord, we pray for favorable report and outcome regarding ArtieS's dads health. hat he will be able to digest and assimilate his food properly.
That the family members will support him, and each other, in love and peace.

Hey, I haven't talked to you on the boards, but I am praying for you, your Dad, and Mom. I know waiting for test results of a loved one is nerve wracking. God bless you.

If there is something in the stomach the endoscope would have shown it. It's a video camera that goes down into the stomach, so it can't miss.

Yeah that was the problem, his intestines still had food in there so they couldn't go all the way through to see if indeed there was something. He has to do the procedure again today, and he is sad indeed.

He may be on an ensure diet for a week or so and he is not pleased.

I'm surprised they told him only six hours. They want that puppy as dry as a fossil. Since the endo only looks at the upper part, just tell him to stop eating after dinner. (They're usually scheduled for mornings, and most people celebrate with a breakfast afterward.)

And, if he complains, remind him how much worse colonoscopies are. lol

Now, don't tell him this part, because it will just make him and your mom worry more, but it's not always the first test that tells what is wrong. If you hit this worry at every test, it's just a bunch of useless worrying.

BUT, if it takes too long to wait around for all the tests, and he's not eating right, this part he will want to know. When he's done waiting around for 2-6 weeks just to get each test, all he has to do is speak up and ask for all of them at once. They can put him in the hospital over night (just to get all the testing done -- doesn't mean anything terrible to be in a hospital just for tests) and they can squeeze him in for the full slew of tests. He'll go in early for first day, spend no time in a room, but get rolled around from one place to another, get the night off, (not counting carrying a little case around that records what the camera-pill is seeing throughout his digestive system), and then they squeeze the rest of the tests in by noon, so he doesn't see the room again.

I'm still praying for nothing major, and all those tests might come back with the "nothing major" diagnosis, but I'm letting you know I've been there, done that, and didn't get the T-shirt. (Ends up, they didn't figure it out until much later -- pinched nerve in my back. Go figure.) Cross the Worry Bridge if you get there. Try to not worry before you get there. And most of all, God already has this all set to go and working out just the way he wants for maximum benefit for your dad, you, and your family.

They found a mass in dad's stomach and it ate through his abdomen a little. It's most likely cancer. They're doing surgery in two weeks and he's probably gonna be on chemo for several weeks. It's possibly he will have a partial or no stomach after this.

The average life expectancy is 5 years. I'm gonna lose my daddy.

Unless God sees fit to do a miracle I mean. Oh please pray for a miracle. I know my dad is so scared for my mom, sister, and me.

Not quite, never give up on hope I am a living example of the impossible being possible like I said in my pm to you the doctors told me I would not survive and I should died several times. I believe in the impossible and I refuse to believe he is going to die I believe he will live and on the day my words are proven true I hope this will strengthen your belief in the impossible made possible

Oh, honey! It's too soon to take it all the way to death yet. He also has two weeks for a second opinion. If there is a cancer hospital aroundyou, have him go there for the second opinion. All hospitals can treat cancer, but cancer hospitals keep up on the latest, so often can do it less invasively and with better outcomes.

When hubby went for his second opinion, he went from surgery that would cause him a month's stay in the hospital, loss of part of his kidney, and a big scar, to outpatient procedure that left a little mark on his back, and a whole kidney. Most importantly, he went from "likely to return," to "highly unlikely to ever return."

This isn't over yet. You're at the Worry Bridge, but just one. Not all of them at once.

Remember it's easy to focus on the storm but take a note from peter and focus instead on he who is standing on the waters in the storm, had he the chance to do that again I guarantee he would not have fallen in the water
