Last year, when hubby was in the hospital/rehab for seven months, I got the Car Worry Duty. (I believe car-worries are husbandly responsibilities, because, in our case, this wife hasn't got a clue on anything mechanical.) This is our last car unless that lottery ticket blows in my hand, and it's a 1994-1995ish Saturn. Neither an antique or collectible, plus Saturn has been a defunct company for eight years, so getting a part is going to be a bigger problem as time goes on.

When I had Car Worry Duty, I was fully aware it might need windshield washer fluid and oil. I haven't been under the hood of a car since my 1967 Mustang back in the 70's, so I didn't think I could do that. (Hubby showed me how last weekend, so now I'm thinking, "Duh! I can do that" again. lol)

While he was gone I had to put the car in the shop three times. (Last time was for inspection, so I had them change the oil and add fluids, since this was a couple of days before hubby was coming home.) The things that went wrong, I could hear or feel. And I wouldn't have heard or felt either, if I didn't have Car Worry Duty.

Hubby has gotten to the point of taking back over both driving and Car Worry Duty as of last week. The temperature gauge was spiking. (We don't drive far usually, so I never worry about that. Not like the car has time to overheat, so I just missed it entirely on my Car Worry Check List.)

First time this century hubby could make it to our annual family-get together at my brother's house. (Hey, Utah! If you read this, we drove by your town last Sunday. My brother lives in Wall, NJ, so we went all the way over 195. I waved. Did you wave back? lol) AND the car made it and back again without a problem.

Back to the shop today. The fan motor stopped working. They could replace it. We also could afford it because brother was kind to us when he sold Dad's house.

Everything worked exactly like it was supposed to. God was kind enough to wait for this to happen when hubby would notice it.

Praise God for timely all ways around!

(Hint hint: Has God done anything like this for you lately? Add your praises.)

You shouldn't have too much of a problem getting parts for your saturn. Saturn was a GM product and used pretty generic parts in it. I was a car mechanic years ago. They ain't too bad.

Anyways, since my wife left, money has been tough. She has never worked since we got married and now I have to fund two households. I only get paid once a month and it has become normal for me to go a week without eating before payday. The other night I was out working and checking some houses that I know the owners are snowbirds and gone. One of the houses I use to live in and moved out of last year when my wife left. I have always been a renter. We had a winter storm a few days before and it got down to -1. It warmed up theday I was working.
I checked the house and found water pouring out the back door like a waterfall. I reckon the pipes froze and the owners hadn't been there since I moved last summer. I called them up at 2 am to tell them. They live 2 hours away. I got the water turned off at the street.
I got a hundred dollars and a thank you note in the mail yesterday, just when I needed it.
God is good.

oh yes, dear Lynn,

He is constantly keeping us in a state of thankfulness, He just shows-up and provides
what we need at just the right moments, it's such an humbling to realize that our Creator
Loves us enough to provide what we need and on so many occasions providing what we surely
didn't expect...there's just nothing that we can compare Him to, He truly is The Perfect-Loving-Saviour...

Tommy,

there are always ways to shop before the 'hard-times' come, just set-aside $1.00
from when you have enough to do so, and spare change, and it will add-up enough for you to stock-up a
little for when the true 'tests' come...Jesus may allow us to get down to the bare-bones a few times, but
The Holy Spirit will teach us how to survive when we need that extra boost to see us through...
until next-time when we are able to use what we have been taught from the 'last-time':)...

Cool on the timely money!

Three places you might be able to get food when the shelves are empty:
-- Church food pantries. (Some churches have a small store for just such emergencies.)
-- Meals on Wheels
-- Aid for Friends

The last two are national charities. Look them up online, and you should be able to find more local groups. And if the local groups are far away, call anyway. They distribute some of the food even more locally for places like church pantries or Christian organizations. (The closest one to me is a refrigerator in a Christian counseling place.)
