Has Madonna shot herself in the financial foot? Due to her anti-American rant, one radio station has decided to stop playing her songs. Will others follow suit?

Positive or negative actions, it's all press coverage. Madonna might see a reduction in the amount of her royalty checks from reduced airplay of her music, but she'll still be a fixture in the media with all of her ranting and raving. She's still going to laugh all the way to the bank. I'd look for a book from her sometime in 2017, and if so, it'll somehow end up on Oprah's Book Club almost immediately, which will push it's sales through the roof.

Madonna is experiencing some crisis of social relevance or she wouldn't be headlining some feminist protest.

However, she's worth ridiculous amounts of money, and probably has it all invested so...
I doubt she cares if she's offended some people.

In fact, it's probably just the OPPOSITE.
She's made her entire fortune by being controversial and OFFENDING PEOPLE.
So I think she got exactly what she wanted.
She's back in the news, and she's socially relevant again.

I think she finally did herself in. She has been a train wreck longer than I've been alive but this time I think she ruined herself..

The liberal stations might play her songs all the more. Hopefully not.

If the Democrats want to recover from their loss, they are going to have to start doing something constructive.

She screwed up, just not in the way your referring. Long term this will have a nil effect on her finances though.

I don't know, I haven't heard any local stations banning her music and I haven't heard any of her music being played on the radio in a while.

It's too bad the secret service doesn't make an example of her, then the Hollywood hotshots would shut up.:)

The only job the Secret Service has in this arena is to determine if there is a credible threat to the safety of POTUS. If not, they close the case and move on.

Celebrities have been shooting off their mouths like this for a long time. A handful of years back Ted Nugent had the scrutiny of the Secret Service for similar comments directed at Obama and the Left were calling for the same "example" to be made of him.

My ex brother in law once commented about her role in "A League of Their Own".... he said, "yeah, she plays the part of a slutty white trash girl..... luckily for her, that's not a stretch for her acting ability".....

Some very famous male singers couldn't really sing, either. I never saw this being commented upon generally speaking until Madonna took the scene. Probably there was someone somewhere who said, gee, Bob Dylan doesn't have the greatest voice, and Leonard Cohen seems to talk more than sing, but I must say that as a woman, having it pointed out that a woman artist doesn't have a great singing voice seems a double standard, when not having a great singing voice doesn't seem to be likewise translated to having no artistic talent for men.

In fact I saw Bob Dylan live a few years ago and I could hardly make out a word he was saying let alone really recognize some of his most famous songs because he was more snarling and growling and barking than even attempting to sing LOL. I was not there principally to see him, though, so it did not really bother me. I suppose it did not even bother his most rabid fans, either :D I was there to see the opening act, who was Mark Knopfler, and he put on an exemplary show.

Oh, yeah, I love Mark Knopfler, but there are probably
those who say he can't sing either, and yet he is widely recognized as being enormously talented :) On the other hand, it may be true that Mark Knopfler and Leonard Cohen did not set out to break down social boundaries, but simply to do that which they loved. Women have not been so fortunate. They have had to break down social boundaries at the same time as doing that which they love. Madonna was certainly in our faces about it :)
