I think my husband's artwork is better.

He's funny. (How it feels to go fishing.)

John Fishing.jpg

And he's good. A photo in National Geographic. The man has a cocoa leaf on his head to calm a headache.

This instead.

Photo was of a former co-worker who isnt as chubby as the draw (and doesnt look like this in person really=). It isnt as funny as the other i thought to share first, but after retouching the eyes, the more ugly it is turning out so i leave as is. Take it or leave it=)!

And this, dedicated to... u know who...

The african elephant (above) is larger than the asian elephant; it has bigger ears for its size and 2 lips at the tip of its trunk. Has 4 toenails on each front feet, 3 on each back feet.
The asian elephant's trunk has only 1 lip. Back is more curved than in the african elephant, and ears are smaller. There are 5 toenails on each foot, 4 on each back foot.
From a Wildlife book.. Pencil wasnt so sharp so this is quite light.

Hmm, thought you'd show pictures we were supposed to laugh at. (Like my husband's picture of fishing. That's funny. lol) I think all of these are quite good. I can tell you 20 things wrong with my pictures too, but that doesn't mean I think they're laughable. (Granted, I do laugh, but because I find the things wrong are funny. Apparently, a teddy bear is so heavy he made a wooden drawer sag. lol) I don't think anyone was expecting perfection in any of our artwork, so there is nothing wrong if they aren't perfect. (Although I think that little girl in Post # 6 is perfect.) Stop beating yourself up. You are good.

in true ART, it's the imperfections that can catch the eye and often the heart...

I had to reserve that for some other time/purpose... Yes, but i'll say this as well while i have minutes. I thought if i put in teeth as in her photo, the sketch would be ruined. Its just fine that she had a nice smile, no matter how thin or ugly she might be for i imagine it so different if she was serious there-).
Yes, the strands of hair are wonderful in the child. But your last sentence, are you sure? No, you dont have to reply. I didnt think so for a long, long time for i didnt do this for a long time, but now i see we can still improve no matter how old! Thanks for the encouragement. Ive been just starting again and this really is so hard.

Thats why save the image in thumbnail. The imperfections are less visible=)

Btw, here's another i labored(?) on last night. Its the Phormium tenax, an elegant native of new zealand. Its bold, greyish-green foliage stands erect, like a bristle of sword blades, and the summer stems towering above bear 2 in long, dull red flowers.

If I can tell what a picture is without having someone explain it to me, I think that's good. (As an older sister, I have seen many drawings I needed explained to me. lol) You'res went beyond that level of good that I could also see you wanted to say something about the subject. (The kind spirit of that person. The just-walking-to-get-there of the elephants, as if this was the sum total of their lives and they were content with that. I'd like that simplicity in life sometimes.) So, yeah. Good!

And remember you're doing this because it's fun. The "hard" of doing something that's fun is a nice challenging kind of hard. Not a plunge-the-toilet hard. :)

Wow! That would have taken me at least a month to draw those plants.

=).

The photo of the elephants caught my attention because they seemed easy to copy, and they were walking! Most drawings i see have them standing like this.

The tutorial showed how easy it is to start drawing tho. I said 'start,' and the succeeding trials may not be that easy, but you feel that bit of exhilaration, not as exciting as riding a ferris wheel... more like a swing!

Got bored one day and decided to make fun of some people at my church by taking their facebook profile pics and modifying them.
