This is meant to be a thread on asking abt and sharing how impt godparents and other extended family to you are. Often this may be cultural, and i know many of us still are close to relatives, but how important are they to you, and you to them.

When the children were small, we often only had a couple or 2 as sponsors or godparents, wc isnt the norm here, for christenings, confirmations (for RCs), and weddings would often give a child or couple half a dozen or even a dozen pairs of godparents who are like extended family (sometimes uncles and aunts are also chosen to be). But since we only had a few, when we or they moved, the children did not get to know some of them any more unless the ninong or ninang (godparent) took the trouble to remember and did things... How did these go with you?
