Life is a futile exercise in selfishness, in which, in our foolishness; we compete, firstly with God and the Holy Spirit, then with one another and ourselves to develop within ourselves, starting with being born through corruption to corrupt parents, all manner of imagined virtues and ills, when all along all's we had to do was simply invite Him to occupy ourselves and our lives, that He is the only true and required possessor of all that is good and best, and genuine nicety, and free from all corruption, sickness and wickedness.

Yes, I suppose if left to our own devices, our lives would all be a mess.
