To those to whom it is applicable, the 80's rule! I'm 40 years old and the 80s were my childhood realities. There were very specific rules to the happy existence of the 80's:

* Pope John Paul II was Pope (just as a reference, I'm not Catholic)
* President Ronald Reagan was the president
* Hulk Hogan was the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion
* NY Mets were the World Series winners of 1986
* NY Giants won the Superbowl of 1987

These were fond memories; maybe the world fell apart after President Reagan left office! :)

What are your fond memories of childhood?

I love the 80's. At least looking back on them. There is a good netflix show about them. Worth the watch.

I was born in 82, however I do remember and have extensive knowledge about the 80's... The clothes, hair, and music should all be forgotten. 90's were pretty decent. But im an old soul.. I prefer anything prior to 1960.

there was some good music. But most of it became a parody of itself. Eddie Van Halen changed rock guitar for one thing. No doubt he had countless copycats but he spawned a whole new era of musicianship that's still lives to this day. Looking back I really don't understand the androgeny that hair metal embraced. I guess is was cool to look like a woman. Lol

Now if you look like a woman to get to be on the cover of Time Magazine... no musicianship required.

Going to the Street Party on Coronation day 1953 dressed as a Cowboy! I was age 5 at the time. Watching The Lone Ranger on Television. Family Christmas gatherings. Playing in the street with friends

I have to respectfully disagree and point out that the 1960's was the decade that ruled. Jets won the 1969 Super Bowl and Mets the 1969 World Series. Better yet, the Cardinals won the 1964 and 1967 World Series.
