I read it a few days ago and I got where she was coming from. She also states that having a coffee. Bar isn't a bad thing but not to lose sight of why we're really there.

Having different views on the ACTUAL INFORMATION is better than just IMAGINING THE INFORMATION.

So yes, it would change a thing.

It would mean we're all discussing ACTUAL REALITY, instead of just IMAGINING.

The fact we have different views doesn't mean we should intentionally strive to be as ignorant as possible.

Geesh.
I read this article and I agree with BeyondET that this woman just seems to be hurting and sad and doesn't seem to like the coffee bar because people are fellow shipping and happy. It appears that she is unhappy and it is bothering her and it doesn't seem like Christ or the coffee bar has anything to do with it.

The coffee bar is in the hallway so I don't see how that is affecting preaching or the teaching of Jesus.

:)A lot of people go to the coffee bar and stay In there during service because they just enjoy the atmosphere Instead of going to the sanctuary to worship GOD and fellowship.

IMO,as long as they are at church, there Is always opportunity.Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the WORD of GOD.

I've never met a person who was against coffee bars etc in a church who wasn't also legalistic and judgemental.

A coffee bar should never replace the cross but I see no biblical reason to avoid using modern tools of socialization.

But I may be way off :p

Yea Its not hard to understand the point but how would not forgetting that JESUS Is the reason look In practice, would It look like,a Christian giving a look to another person that showed up because they like the atmosphere like IE you shouldn't be here because you only came for the coffee and the atmosphere, see what I mean, that's about legalism and not winning people to CHRIST.

I didn't get that at all. I think she's saying we need to go beyond the doors of the church and reach out to the people who are hurting. The focus shouldn't all be on the, New and spectacular way to get people to come, although it's not wrong to find ways to bring people in and if they want to hang out at a coffee bar instead of the sermon, that's fine, however, what about the person who's in pain sitting in the pew waiting for someone to reach out to them? What about the people out there who don't care about that stuff and they just want someone to care? That's what I got from her writing. I've never been to a church with a coffee bar, in sure there are plenty of nice churches with coffee bars but I don't like coffee. It really doesn't matter, my church has once a month Friendship Sunday, we have coffee and donuts and stuff, it's a chance for us to get to know each other. That's great, but she makes sense to me. Reach out and make sure you're offering more than coffee bars and fog machines.

I'm going to share something that was painful for me. At my former church many years ago, it was Mothers Day, a month before I had a miscarriage, my heart was broken, I was in deep pain. My Husband was at work at couldn't come with me. I walked through the door and saw they were passing out carnations to the Mothers. Many of the members knew I had a miscarriage. I sat there in that pew no carnation, no one saying, hey this day must be tough for you, nothing. Then a 10 year old girl came up to me and said, here Miss Jen and gave me a huge hug and a flower. That touched my heart in so many ways. That kid knew I need someone to reach out to me. Yeah more than flowers, more than coffee bars, not legalistic, reach out when you know someone is hurting, it's not always easy but do it anyway.

Best church service ive attended yet was with 4 other ladies and yup there was coffee. Its easy to criticize those called according to Gods good purpose. People are perishing for lack of an excellent cup of coffee. Im certain Jesus would have no problem with this. Those criticising i most certainly hope your individual ministry surpasses the caffeine preacher.

Actually yes they do, I think people are so missing the point of the blogger on this one.
Its not saying that having fellowship and coffee are wrong at all. People will either get
what the blogger is trying to say (having been there themselves) or they won't.

Who knew that having a coffee bar in church could already hit 2 pages of discussion? Lets be honest, if someone has the time to sit and throw rocks about a church promoting their coffee bar, then that person has their priorities all sorts of messed up.

Note to the world : READ THE ARTICLE. No one is criticizing coffee and fellowship, not even the author. Read it, then read it again until you get it.

I would add as well, for those who haven't realised yet, the article isn't about coffee bars,
it's about people
