Ok. I was pretty into this movie...until the kids' accounts of seeing angels was...all their relatives.

A Mormon directed this (I believe) and Cokeville is primarily a Mormon town.

I still cried at the end when it showed the survivors with their families. I found it beautiful they ALL had on average, 4-5 kids (some more) I only saw 1-2-3 that had 2-3 kids. Wow! Clearly - they all value life and see children as a blessing after coming out of that insane situation.

But...ancestor angels? This isn't biblical. Can anyone offer input? To this point my studies have led me to agree with the fact demons can impersonate "angels of light" and - are highly aware of not only what we look like but personal information etc ... so accounts like this always make me wonder if they are involved. But in this case they weren't really giving information to deceive but actually helped the kids out, as well as were possibly responsible for some other unexplainable events in the days prior and that day.

It does (the movie) try to seem to point people to God/Christ however... I wonder about the town and what beliefs could have been/were enforced by this seemingly wonderful event coming out of potential mass tragedy.

Thoughts?

For the record the movie was pretty accurate from what I read after watching it. Big details, all lined up.

I believe that in order to comfort us, angels can take on any form God wants them to. Be it human, animal, flower, etc. :) That's JMO.

Angels can take ANY form?

So... like... uhh... for all you know... it could be ME?

Yeah?

Ladybug I liked your comment because I do not doubt God's power to accomplish that.

However in Scripture we only see them as men, or, quite horrific creatures we can barely explain.

I am not even sure the Cokeville accounts said any of these "Angels" were men. All I saw/read were female ancestors. If anyone could enlighten me on the Mormon beliefs...do they have some type of ancestor thing? I think I read somewhere they think families "never die" in a sense? Not saying I do not somewhat agree with that but really, we will all be more like brothers and sisters in heaven, but I have leaned on some crazy ideas for heaven myself, that I really dare not share with many yet (all based in scripture Thoth...as "they" all claim too :D haha)

Well, I've seen it up close and personal, so yes they can. I do believe that. :) I have read many stories of people needing help out of a dangerous situation, and a man or woman or animal showed up, helped them and then poof..disappeared without a trace. Are you doubting that God can transform them into humans if need be?

Have you ever read the Angels On Earth magazines? If not, you should. :) If a donkey can talk, and a man survive in a whale's belly for 40 days, then NOTHING is impossible for God. Luke 1:37 proves it. :)

No. You very well could be somebody's angel. Doesn't the bible state that we have entertained angels unaware? If that's true, obviously they would have to be in human form as someone we minister to. :)

Good.
Glad we cleared that up.

Now, if you ever forget that... I'll be sure to remind you.

Ok. I can't agree we can be angels. Now, the word angel can be translated "messenger" so we can be that. But angels and humans ARE 2 different races...and WE have a Savior. Angels do not. That is why we have demons, and they have always been destined for hell since they fell.

Texting my ex-Mormon friend about it some. I'm concerned....this event might have driven a whole town into more cultic beliefs. However...I do not mean to limit the arm of God. He can save anyone anywhere. But Mormonism itself goes, almost completely against scripture while simultaneously using it as a springboard.

I get chills (the bad kind) when someone says "heaven got another angel" when someone died....it says we will be LIKE them (in full obedience basically) but NOT "angels" ... and I can't see scripturally how our souls can leave God once we go to Him :: "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."

I don't mean that we can be actual angels. :) But we certainly can be an angel to someone, can't we?

Oh! Good grief! NO!!!!!!!
Whatever man.

But Ladybug said right in public that I could be an angel.

So deal with it.

Yeah... I could be a manifestation of divine goodness.

You're probably sitting there right now thinking how lucky you are.

Mormonism is a cult, not a religion..
