Hello Prynce,
I use to speak with people from different countries through skype. That has helped me, but they're not native speakers. That does not help wiht my accent or vocabulary. I would like to try with people who are native to the English language. Maybe this way I'll learn better.

Yes, you're right. The only issue is that I don't feel so confident hahaha it would be awful to participate through the mic and then realise that nobody understands you because your accent haha. I'm so afraid of this.

I understand, Yea as hellooo said it would probably be better if you try the chat feature on here. That way you are speaking to multiple people to assist you. I understand you may be uncomfortable to do it but we are a family and here to help eachother.

Speak very slowly, that helps more than you know. And face your fears. If you fail at first try , try again!!

An old friend of mine developed a real passion for Madrid when she went on a class trip in high school. She spent all her money going back again and again during the summertime between semesters at college, and after college she moved there.

She loved Madrid, but didn't like speaking Spanish. So what can you do to make money in Madrid if you don't speak Spanish? She taught Spaniard conversational English. (Mostly businessmen who had business in America.) She worked for the American University. (Name of the school, not what type of school. They're also found across the globe.) How about finding your local American University and take Conversational English? There's courses for everything anymore. lol

I took ESL in college. (English as a Second Language.) Ends up most of my classmates were like you -- bilingual, but understood Spanish better than English. So was the teacher. So, she taught in Spanish and the people near me translated quietly for me. I've noticed that people are willing to help all they can, once they understand the desire.

And, don't think we English speakers understand each other perfectly either. There's British English, Canadian English, and American. We often don't get each other at all either.

Thanks you. At the end I'd say that all this is about fear, it's not easy, but I'll try. Thanks for your advice. You're so kind. :):)

You're right, there's no way for us to speak the perfect way, every country has its way, idioms, and culture. I hope to find an intermediate way to comunicate with everybody haha.

The best way, I think, is to hang around English speaking people. If that's not possible, then...

  • record some English speaking folks
  • record and repeat what they are saying
  • compare the two, and
  • keep practicing until you closely match how they speak.

Do the above for just 10 minutes per day, and before long you will see great improvement.

Hello Sharo007
when I first met my wife she knew very little English . She is from Mexico. She struggled at times but is quite fluent now. One of the ways she was able to improve her English after she got a few basics down was to watch English speaking movies with the English subtitles on . She found listening and reading the English at the same time improved her English speaking skills. . I know it sounds strange but I believe works . It's a way to relax watch a movie and improve your English. This was not the only thing she did but it helped . Also you may want to try a no Spanish day . See if you can go a day of speaking only English. My wife and I had fun with that one . She only spoke English and I had to only use Spanish. We had a blast . She lost when her husband ( me ) all of a sudden became a pe..jo for not helping her with a word ha ha or ja ja .
I hope that helps .
Blessings

When I started learning it was this way. Here in DR the college's students use to take a one year english course. We were not allowed to speak in spanish in the classroom, so everybody was throwing words and making gestures trying to comunicate. It was really funny haha.:D
