I heard someone recently talking about part time Christians.

It got me thinking what's the difference between a full and part time
Christian.

A part time Christian only exhibits Christian behavior on a part time basis and a full time Christian on a full time basis? I have not heard anyone mention part time Christians, but I hear people talk about undercover Christians.

What's the difference between a part-time and full-time Christian? Easy. Salvation. One is saved, the other is not.

I see what you mean, but we all got cranky, frustrated, annoyed, show selfishness etc
from time to time. I'm just wondering how we would know the difference between a
full time and part time Christian. Is there even a difference or is it a heart issue rather than
an external issue.

Someone can appear to be a part timer but inside they may be on fire for God. While
another can go to every church meeting but be dead inside.

How would we be able to identify in ourselves if we were part timers for example.

Its is a pretty challenging question isn't it. :)

Sounds lukewarm to me, the scriptures tells us to fully submit to God. As well as we cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons

Maybe part-time Christians are people who are careful to behave properly when they are around church members.

I prefer to see them as immature Christians who are in the process of growing. But a Christian is a Christian - Jesus gives them that name and status.

A few years back, people used to wear a pin that said in effect "Please be patient with me - God isn't finished with me yet".

Yeah, that's the passage that came to mind for me as well:

16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
Rev 3:16 (NIV)
So it seems to me that a part-time Christian, or lukewarm Christian, is really no Christian at all.

No such thing as a part time Christian.

Either Jesus is your Lord and Savior or He's not.

I don't recall hearing the phrase "part time Christian" before, but I'd say a part time Christian is a fake while a full time Christian is the real deal.

Healthcare benefits?

What is the difference between being a child of God and a full time Christian?

It's more than an 8-5 full time job description.

Folks who look at others and call them "part time Christians" makes me want to ask "when did being a Christian become a job description?"

I don't think being a "full time Christian" is much better than a part time one. Still sounds like old covenant thinking to me.

I was thinking today how I have a full time 24/7 job looking after my aunt, but
I also have an external job 3 days a week.

Even when im doing the part time job, I'm also still working at the full time time.
The full time job never goes away. There are always phone calls to make, plans to make.
Rushing home after work etc.

Maybe that's the best description, we are full time Christians 24/7, even when we live
in a secular world and do the humdrum activities of life. You know, shopping, eating,
paying bills etc. The real Christian identity is always active in the background.
