So, I know and believe that we're saved through faith in Christ alone and that nothing we could ever do could ever 'earn' God's grace. However, sometimes I find myself thinking or feeling like I'm not a "good enough" Christian or that Paul was crazy when he said he was the worst of all because clearly I am. I was just wondering if anyone else every thought or felt like this?

Yes i have thought this a few times, but then it's a sin to disagree/go against with what God says so i choose to be the person he said that i am in Christ... It doesn't matter what i think of myself it matters what i think of HIM and how i react to his truth...Agreeing with God is what makes a person righteous in his eyes.

I think the more we learn about and understand the infinite, eternal, omniscient, omnipresent God we serve, the more we learn how we fall way short.

Re: Do you ever find yourself thinking/feeling like you're not a "good enough" Christ

Every single day. But I dont rely on myself for salvation.

I pray almost daily for help with temptation, for guidance and the wisdom to understand why right is right and wrong is wrong, for mercy for my sins, and for Him to help strengthen me and my cause, to come closer to Him, and to help me turn from sinful living.

I fall, and I know I did wrong, and I feel remorse for it. But I believe in the work of Christ, and what He did for me, and I never stop asking for His help and guidance.

I have noticed that the more I turn from sin, and the better I do, the better I feel overall. And that often encourages me to stay on the right path, haha.

Not sure what you mean by that...no Christians are good and our salvation isn't dependent on what we do but what has been done for us...

Re: Do you ever find yourself thinking/feeling like you're not a "good enough" Christ

That's why it is vital to our spiritual and emotional growth and joy to know the love and grace of God. He loves us when we do bad and when we do good. He loves us when we fail or when we win. His love stays the exact same at all times. It's a compass to live our lives by.

Jesus paid for us to be able to stand just as we are before a Holy God. When we see our unworthiness it is at that time we need to draw on the grace of God IN Christ. Jesus paid for our guilt and remorse and failure.

How much more now that we are His? Here is an excerpt of a devotional I read the other day that addresses this very truth.

[TR]
[TD="class: yiv1422045187mcnTextContent"]Every time you confess, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ”, God the Father is pleased. When you confess that you are the righteousness of God in Christ, we are reminded of what His Son has done for us to become righteous.

"Also, by making you righteous, God is showing Himself righteous—“to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus”. (Romans 3:26)

Each time Jesus hears you confess, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ,” it brings much pleasure to His heart too, because you are laying hold of what He suffered and died to give you.

The Holy Spirit, who now indwells you to convict you of righteousness (John 16:10), also rejoices when you confess, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ.” He is pleased when you flow with Him.

The delight of the Godhead is not the only thing you gain when you declare, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ.” The Bible tells us that when you “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…all these things shall be added to you”. (Matthew 6:33)

Whether it is food, clothing or other necessities in life, “all these things” will be added to you. They will not just be given to you, but added to you as your inheritance when you seek first His righteousness."

Re: Do you ever find yourself thinking/feeling like you're not a "good enough" Christ

The times I have felt that way is because:
~ I have a continuous sin I'm blind to and sense somethings wrong. I ask God to reveal it to me.
~ I have known unconfessed sin that I haven't asked forgiveness for so I confess and repent.
~ I haven't accepted His forgiveness for something I've repented of so I thank Him for forgiveness.
~ He's revealed something I need to act on in obedience yet so I ask His help to obey.

Some of you may be able to add your own personal reasons to that list. I don't think it's necessarily bad to feel that way either because it might be that we are feeling ashamed for a sin. The Holy Spirit might be speaking to us about something and we take the conviction and become ashamed instead of dealing with it through confession and repentance.

It could simply be The Liar is speaking to us and telling us we're not good enough and we'll never be worthy of God's love.

The answer to this is to thank God for His love He poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit and thank Him for making us worthy through the righteousness He gave us by grace through faith. We're clothed in His robe of righteousness. I say it out loud the minute I realize it's an attack of the enemy.

A truly JOYOUS believer knows that he/she is only good because Jesus is good. We go before God clothed in Jesus righteousness. We are legally able to stand before God only because of how good Jesus is. Knowing this will change your life!!

Re: Do you ever find yourself thinking/feeling like you're not a "good enough" Christ

Well at first I thought yea . Then thinking about it I realized something. I haven't felt that I have ever been a bad or poor Christian. What I do realize is I am undeserving of the Grace that The LORD has given me. ( yea that's why it's called grace ) . Those are two different things. I am not perfect in my walk. Those times I become aware of a shortcoming I treat them as a time for growth . Yea it's been constant growth sense I was saved . Ha ha ha .

It's because I know I am not good "enough" that I am a Christian.

Unfortunately, those "people" you are describing have yet to experience fully who God is and are able to love the way he instructs us to. We all have people like that in our own lives and I have found praying for them to experience it is one of the best things to do. I apologize for the people that did this to you because no one deserves to be treated in that manner. God has so much he wants to give to you and when little hiccups like this happen we choose what we are going to do about it, we can either brush it off or let it consume us :)

Re: Do you ever find yourself thinking/feeling like you're not a "good enough" Christ

Yes, I often feel that I am not good enough. Thank my Savior that my salvation does not rely on how good I feel. I am a daughter of the King of Kings, wrapped in the righteous robes of Jesus. Because of what Jesus did for me on the cross, when God looks at me He sees the righteousness of Christ.

My feeling of "not good enough" reminds me that I don't need to be good enough to earn salvation. It also reminds me that I want to walk in the light as He is in the light, because of my love for Him.

Thank our Heavenly Father for His amazing grace.

Only people who are not good enough, recognise their need for a Saviour.

Only people who know they are weak and can do nothing without Him, continue
to trust and put their faith in God.

Re: Do you ever find yourself thinking/feeling like you're not a "good enough" Christ

...I used to, but now I am more concerned about the possibility of my destiny to either heaven or hell has already been set for me, and the thought of my destiny guaranteed to end in hell is terrifying. It's basically a 50/50 chance for me, and it's really scary.
