I'm not necessarily prone to pointing at the End Times or Rapture for major disasters and events.

But I do believe is keeping prepared for whatever may occur, to ensure that my family, friends and neighbors can get through it safely.

While the solar minimum and maximum cycles are interesting, I believe that our increasing dependence on vulnerable technologies, just in time supply chains and population densities make what may have seemed like minor events in the past 10. 20 or 100 years particularly damaging now.

Here are some relevant Solar Storm updates:

I absolutely love the subject of the Rapture or End times, but I'm not sure what the protocol is in here for those topics. It seems the threads that relate to those subjects get closed quickly. Maybe there are just too many different opinions or arguments.

I have been thinking alot lately about survival preparation. I live right in the 'ring of fire' and we could be the next on the list for an earthquake. It is always good to have anough food and water around to prepare for disaster. It is also good to have enough in case your neighbour needs help or supplies. Something I've been thinking about more seriously lately. If a solar storm knocks out power throughout a whole continent, I cannot imgine what a nightmare that would be and preparing for that would be a wise thing to do.

Well, it seems that floods, oil spills, earthquakes, volcanos and hurricanes are common enough that being prepared is prudent in any case.

I agree with you, that you need to be prepared for power outages and loss of services. You know when the power is out, water supplies and gas stations stop working as well. It only takes three days of no services for things to get very desperate.

Everyone should keep at least two weeks of food and water supplies in the home, although three months would be ideal. That includes daily prescriptions/medicines and pet food.
