There is an interesting thread in the women's forum about make up at the
moment and I just wondered, why don't men wear make up. :)

Or do you?

Under what circumstances might you wear it.

Would you expect your wife/gilrfriend to wear make up and why, what circumstances.

Would it bother you if she didn't wear make up?

Personally prefer women that go natural but it's fine for special occasions.

I think the fact that men don't wear make-up is (at least somewhat) a cultural thing. In other cultures men DO wear make-up. And actually...um...I'm trying to think how to say this without sounding really creepy ...When I do film make-up on guys, that understated make-ups actually makes them look really handsome! Evens out their skin and draws attention to their eyes, just makes everything a bit HD looking...what isn't handsome about that? Not that I'm necessarily endorsing men wearing make-up on a day-by-day basis, just my thoughts.

Wearing makeup. In days long ago, when women were at the mercy of male dominated societies, they had to do all they could to attract attention of the breadwinners. The prettier they were, the greater their chances were of not only attracting a worker but one who was a white collar worker.

Since men were the breadwinners in the male dominant societies, they just worked and chose a woman for a wife. Men didn't need makeup.

Perhaps makeup fell upon women also because parents of a daughter wanted other households to select their daughter to be the wife of the other household's son.

Today, that tradition of wearing makeup still holds, but it is all about glamor and fashion and who knows what else.

I don't wear makeup. Will only wear it to frighten people, for fun, and if I ever star in a Hollywood movie.

Hollywood here I come. Here's looking at you kid.

Too much make-up is a major turnoff for me. I like it when a woman can have on little to no make-up and still be comfortable with how she looks.

My wife had never really used make up until about a year ago. I made sure that since the beginning she felt beautiful naturally. But last year she made a new friend who taught her how to use makeup since my wife grew up playing with the boys.

She now finds it fun and it makes her happier. She loves to be unique and try different things. I guess its kinda like body art, but at the same time your culture sees make up as a beauty tool.

Idk I just tell her whatever makes you happy I love you and think your beautiful either way.

As for me I so far have not had the reason to wear make up since i do not care what others think about my face lol

I would never wear it often but i have worn make up several times. my sisters once payed me 40 dollars to put on make up wear a dress and heels and walk around the neighborhood they didn't think i would do it but you see I have no shame and forty dollars? back then i never had a dime to my name because all my money was being stolen by my mom. I also did the same here in my new families house because my adopted sister Elizabith was making her boyfriend do it and didn't want him to feel alone in doing it and seeing how i don't really care what people think of me in my appearance and i felt bad for him i did it too.

bty how on earth do you girls wear those high heels? yeesh what a nightmare

I don't want to and see no reason why I should. I have always been more drawn to women that wear little to no makeup. I'm fact, with my current gf she is usually the one saying she needs makeup and I'm telling her she doesn't need it because she's beautiful already and makeup would hide her beauty.

I knew a few men who wore make-up. There were homosexual, however, so I don't know if that's necessarily relevant to the discussion. I've never met a straight man who wore make-up. If I can generalize, I think men are less concerned about their outward appear than women are. Yep, it's a cultural thing.

It seems like you either can or you can't. My sister is almost 40 years old and has never worn a high heal because she literally falls on her face. I have worn high-heels since I was 14 and never had a mishap.

But for all the ladies who try and can't wear them remember: Wearing high-heels isn't elegant if you walk like a newborn calf. And in case you've never seen what that looks like:

For $40 I'd wear a dress, make up, high heels, and walk around the neighborhood like that. Skip I ain't proud! No one would recognize me anyway. lol

(And, no idea how women wear high heels. I come close to spraining my ankle every time I have. Now that I can't tiptoe anymore, I'd be in real trouble.)

Id be more attracted to a girl who didnt wear make up.

And I dont wear it anymore. Its mostly a conscious thing, I feel that its the wrong thing to do now that I have come to Christ.
