While there is plenty of that in the OT, I cannot remember Jesus every disciplining someone to have them repent.
He simply told them either to go away and stop sinning, or to follow him. He didn't chase them down with a whip (Except from the sellers in the temple, but I doubt he did that in order to have them become "his children"
If the Lord can get us to repent without disciplining us, then he won't discipline us.

From a quick google search-

Prov 3:11-12 My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.

1 Cor 11:32 But when God does judge us, he disciplines us as his own sons, that we may not be involved in the general condemnation of the world.

Rev 3:19 "Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent."

It would appear that the Lord does use discipline to correct our errors.

we know this,

there will not be one tainted piece of grain in God's Mill,
for He fills His barns with only the choicest wheat...

Without grace,No one would be righteous before GOD although the spirit Is willing, the flesh Is weak and all come short of GOD's perfect standard of righteousness,so then GOD sent HIS WORD manifested In the flesh to be the sacrificed atonement for man that GOD would accept

and now we have access to this Grace through faith In HIS WORD.For we are HIS workmanship created In CHRIST JESUS unto good works that was before ordained that we should walk In them.

Grace means that God doesn't deal with us as our sins deserve. Thank you Jesus.

Titus 2.11-15

[SUP]11 [/SUP]For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, [SUP]12 [/SUP]instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, [SUP]13 [/SUP]looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, [SUP]14 [/SUP]who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."

Thank you Jesus.

The Lord will discipline you until you repent of your sin. It's for your own good.
Tell that to the evil doers in Washington DC. Those scum of the Earth aren't repenting of anything and they've yet to be punished. Doesn't mean they won't be punished, because they will, but as of yet, no.

As for the OP, praise God for the free gift of grace He so freely gives for folks with faith.

"He forgave you before you repented. That’s crucial. See, that is why it is so outrageous. The gospel is really vulgar, crass and immoral because it says God forgives the world before it repents. In the gospel, repent is always repent and believe. It means turn yourself around from not trusting the forgiveness and trust it. That’s it. It doesn’t mean that you earn it by repenting. You had it before. " - Robert Farrar Capon

Sorry,I disagree with this. I get the "evangelist" speak but it could have been said a better way.The Gospel is not any of those things. People need to be careful how they are sharing a thought.

Maybe you don't think they're being punished, but I suspect they live miserable lives.
