Something silly to try this Easter, while cooking your lamb!

Tear off a bit of grease proof paper. Place a comb on it so the edge of the paper comes
just above the comb teeth. Hold the paper in place and hum against the top of the comb
teeth to make an instant musical instrument!

You may need to adjust the tension of the paper slightly and move your lips slightly up
or down to find the best spot, but it works! Also place the waxy side of the paper facing
away from the comb.

Oh and it helps if you can hum in tune and your comb is nit free!

Lol. And to think I spent thousands on two saxophones!

I hope I'm not being insensitive, (there are phrases I used when I was a kid, that seems to offend people now, and I honestly don't know why), but we called that "a Jew's Harp" growing up. Sort of like a kazoo, but homemade.

Best part is I don't have to worry about pushing the right valves, releasing the right amount of pressure or holding it just right. Merely hum, and it sounds like an instrument. The only way, I can play music, so I love it. :)

(Okay, so, is "Jew's harp" not a good thing to say, and, if so, why?)

A Jew's Harp is an instrument of sorts. That's its name. It makes a twanging sound and rattles your teeth. You can look it up on google.

Hum you all got me thinking of other silly instruments.

I can play a leaf, then there is the elastic band. Both make a fair amount
of different notes. :)

This might take a up a bit too much room compared to combs :p but: There is such a thing as a water harmonica. I saw it in an episode of Poirot I think. Makes an eerie sound

Oh I've seen a water/glass harmonic, it sounded great.
Evaporation could be a problem though. :p

Take a look at this, I was waiting for him to use the big glasses!

I once saw one of these played on TV, the glasses were full of wine.
Once the person played a note which didn't need to be used any more
he drank the wine! It was really funny to watch.

I can whistle by cupping my hands just right with my thumb knuckles up as the mouthpiece, but it only plays one note. Sounds something like doves cooing (except only one note. lol)

Only thing I could ever "whistle" with was a piece of grass. Also a nice way to impress kids :D

So did you try it!

My wife said my hair needs combing. As far as the greasy paper is concerned it will go out later with the trash.

Last week, I wanted to tell you about the kazoo, but I forget words sometimes. So I describe the word to hubby, who then translates that into the real word.

After that, hubby got a bit interested in the kazoo. He's also a big Eric Clapton fan. So, today he shared Eric Clapton on the kazoo with me. (Many band members on kazoos. lol) I thought you'd get a kick out of it. Just imagine a comb and wax paper. lol
