Hi,

So this is kind of random, but I just felt the need to say something. I was on a website where people can sign petitions for different causes. I had read an article on abortion today and thought I'd sign some petitions to make abortion illegal (although in this day and age I don't think that's happening anytime soon). I typed in "illegal abortion." Only a handful of petitions came up that were actually aimed at making abortion illegal. Most were written to make abortion legal in different places. It doesn't surprise me that so many people support abortion. I wish it did surprise me, but since I've grown up in this world I've come to expect this. But I just felt a pang of sorrow when I saw picture of women after women (and probably some men wrote the petitions, too) proudly campaigning for the right to murder the unborn!

I mean, I can't possibly imagine having an unwanted pregnancy. In some cases it's terrifying to be faced with the prospect of a baby, sometimes when the mother is a child, or when the mother has no where to go or no way to support herself let alone the child. Sometimes there's the threat of being disowned and even killed by one's family. And if the child is a product of rape, that makes the situation even more difficult. I feel an immense amount of sympathy for girls and women in these situations. But to kill a child is terrible! And to campaign for the right to do so with little or no limitation!

I know I'm preaching to the choir, but that's kind of why I needed to post here. What a terrible world we live in where many if not most people see those petitions and think signing them is the right thing to do! Some had thousands of signatures! And in comparison, the petitions advocating making abortion illegal had sometimes less than a hundred signatures and others were closed, with far less than their goal reached.

When I agree strongly with something I prefer to comment because it shows I gave more time to it than merely clicking the "like" button, but in this case you've said everything I would have said.

My older brother was born of rape. My mom says that even though what she went through was horrible, she never thought of ending his life while in the womb. And I can personally say that I am happy that she didnt, I love my older brother and I am glad he is a part of my life.

I used to struggle with the idea of abortion for rape cases. But my mom put it in perspective for me. She asked, "should a child die because a terrible thing happened to someone?". That really helped me think about it, it IS awful that such a thing happened to someone, but no matter how a child came about, it still exists.

Because of her, I now believe it is the right thing for a victim of rape who became pregnant due to the attack to have the baby, and I dont support abortion even in such cases.

I do not support abortion, but I believe it truly is a decision for the woman and her Doctor to make. If she is married, the husband should also have a right to be in on the decision. There are just a few reasons I can think of that would even rise to the level of a woman considering abortion, and none of them are reasons I would wish upon any woman.

The mother who gave birth to the son conceived out of rape should be applauded. I do think much of this depends on the woman's strength of faith, and her emotional wellness.

I can understand sympathizing with and not wanting to judge women who have abortions. Certainly there may be a few reasons that abortions may be justified (when giving birth would kill the mother or if the baby is already dead). But the problem with leaving it up to the mother is that it goes against God's command not to murder. The Bible is very clear that God sees the unborn as living. The Bible is also clear that taking a life in anything other than self-defense or by accident is murder. While women with unwanted pregnancies undoubtedly have much to go through and should be pitied, in most cases the baby is not threatening their lives. Therefore killing the baby is no different than a mother killing her three year old to escape motherhood.

Sorry,I disagree, abortion is murder and should be illegal. The child does not get a voice and that is unfair.
