It depends, is your job flying the chopper, or clearing up the mess later. Lol

That looks like a tedious, nerve-wracking job. It's hard to imagine how much control that takes. But it's a job that needs to be done, and doing it with a helicopter is one way to do it.

for us, this was nothing more than 'inter-net-theatre'...

first, so many of the shots appeared to be shot 'right next' to the POWER-LINES, hello!

second, anyone who really wanted to cut the branches off of such huge trees with an helicopter,
would just turn the copter side-ways, and use the blades as saws...:):)

oldthennew: Why do you think they were cutting those trees in the first place? Their job is to keep trees away from the power lines.

And if you try to turn a helicopter sideways you get a nasty surprise really fast.

That is so dangerous I don't even know where to begin... Its tough enough to keep a helicopter flying steady while looking forward and he is doing it while looking down and to the side. I know this because I fly helis in my simulator program and have actual rudder pedals, joystick and throttle to simulate the real controls and it is like trying to balance a ball on top of another ball. Plus, you need a special license to be able to fly helis with stuff attached to them because it requires more skill. Every time the tethered weight shifts, it pulls the heli in its direction. Also, if those blades get jammed on a tree trunk or hit a power line it will most likely be game over.
