I am not a troll, nor have I ever been a troll; Trolls don't ask Divine questions, such as the questions I ask.
Uh huh, so now I see why you wanted to "save" the troll. rofl. Good one!

I hate to bring up this never ending subject again but here it goes. But Im coming at this from a different angle. There is strife all over the forums about how to deal with a suspected troll. One side says dont judge no matter what they say, others deal with them and call them out directly. People have different views and personalities. Why is there such a split within the forum? Why does it get so nasty? Members that have been here longer know a troll faster. But why so much strife over how to deal with a troll? Anyone have an answer?
I think I'm always the last to recognize a troll. I think I have some of my best discussions with them.

True it is also great practice in defending the faith.
Besides that you may answer any questions that may raise doubts for those reading the thread.

My modus operandi is to make dang sure that they ARE trolls and not confused and hurting individuals, and then ignore them completely. It never works, but that's what I do ;)

A troll won't stay long where they do not get what they are fishing for. If everyone said "No, that just doesn't fly here, but I WILL talk about this other thing..." they will either leave, or hopefully, risk being as honest as they are able to be at the time.
What they want is attention, and possibly to feel in control, to be superior to you. It does not matter what you say to them as long as they have your attention.

So? Stay in control, and let them know they are now on the wrong course.

They will do one of three things.

They will deny it, and sucker you right back into the conversation they hoped to control from the start.......
or
They will rant for awhile, hoping to snag someone back into arguing with them........
or
They might actually try to trust a little, and be more open and honest.
Power struggles with a troll just seem a huge waste of time. I'd rather just not engage.

Several of us usually PM Trolls on the side, so don't worry too much about it.

I know four members who have been or are called trolls. One was called a ding-dong-something today. Only one spoke up. Unless the word troll has come to mean "mental disability," I wish people wouldn't be so harsh.

I knew a man very hurt by his son's illness, and all he got was TROLL!

Troll = someone who disagrees with you and you feel you must shut them up.

Has no one learned how to use self control???

Just ignore them and get on with yer life!

If other people irritate you, it's your fault for allowing them to.

BTW, your rep power is out of control.
...you must be stopped. :(
Unless, of course, she puts it to "proper" use and gives us a lot of 'rep' -- right? ;);) ( haha )

Darlin' -- you have answered your own question...

It is not that simple. People are complex.

Perhaps the best answer is to let everyone deal with a troll in whatever way they see fit -- and, everyone else remember the Golden Rule...
