I bought a couple of toys yesterday, a microphone and stand, hoping I can put on come Christian music shows at senior living facilities in the area. I used to do that before I got too old and tired, but now that I don’t have to work, this seemed like a good idea. I never used amplification in the past, but my voice isn’t very loud, and I have two channels in my amp, one for acoustic guitar and the other can be used for vocal.

Any musicians out there?

Sure :). I love to sing, and I've played a little piano. I'd love to get a cello. I also like to do music at nursing homes and senior living homes! Between my sisters and I we like to do a show once a month; they enjoy it so much!

Do you have friends you can play with? Thats one of my favorite things to do, play music with friends.

And yap, Im a musician. Ive played a few different instruments. I started playing violin and took lessons back when I was around 10 or 11 and I played that up until I was about 18. The reason I stopped playing was because we rented mine from the school, and when I finished high school they had to take it back : p I took some piano classes around that time, too. And I had a keyboard that a teacher got for me. I played that for a while too, and even recorded a few things I wrote on it. But my nephew and niece broke it, haha. I would really like to get a keyboard again.

I picked up bass guitar when I was 21, a friend gave me his old bass guitar on the condition that I learn how to play it. And I did : p Its my favorite instrument at the moment. Ive played many songs with him, and weve played many shows here in town, as well as parties and even a local music event here in my town.

I like to write my own music too. Sadly I do not yet my own equipment to record with, so anything I record is just through the microphone of my laptop, which means low quality recordings, haha. And if I mess up I have to start the whole thing over again of course. But in order to share stuff Ive written on my bass guitar with friends online, Ive recorded some stuff on vocaroo, an audio sharing site online. And I dug up some stuff Ive done there that hadnt yet expired and downloaded them onto a soundcloud page, which was the idea of a member here on CC, haha.

Ive written many songs, even with lyrics and singing, but my soundcloud really just has some things I did on vocaroo that I posted on there all on one single day, I havent really done much else with it : p

This is my favorite thing that I have on there
I totally made this up on the spot and hit record, so its messy, but I really really liked what I came up with.

I played sax in worship team for 10 years, across the pond is probably a bit too far for me though.

You can make fairly good recordings using Audacity software:

Audacity® | Free, open source, cross-platform audio software for multi-track recording and editing.

On the website is a link to a plugin called LAME (Download > LAME FAQ) that allows you to convert your Audacity recordings into MP3 recordings, which most computers can read. With Audacity you can record things in multiple tracks, throw in a little reverb if you'd like, and mix it any way you'd like.

The people I'd like to work with are always too busy, though they'd be welcome to join me on my new venture.

I've never played with a sax player. Just jump on a plane, fly to San Francisco, and then back to Reno.
