It all depends on where you are at and where the water is coming from.
The more it is filtered the more pure it is. Naturally filtered, I mean, through sand and such.
Water that comes from springs can contain stuff like giardia if it is not flowing quickly.
I would assume, for whatever area you are in, well water would be the most pure around. Certain areas have more pure water in their wells than others.
It seems like the deeper the well is combined with the most depth of that water in the well gives the purest water. Probably just a general rule of thumb with exceptions...

SErious now, truth is I had gold fish, for over 2 years, some know they live and had a friend who had gold fish over 5 years, they do grow, chubby also. The hook line and sinker of the water thing is this. I always used spring water for the tank. The filter stays pretty much clean for a month. Even at times over a month. once ran out of it, and used tap water straight without any filters. One week later the fish tank filter was filty dirty, and the fish developed a black mass on it's neck. It didn't live long after that.
We are made of 70 to 80 percent of water all the way to the shoulders in a diagram, depending on the weight. Babies even more.
