You mean like every person ever? lol. No but seriously we all feel like this sometimes even the most dedicated and mature of believers because even the strongest warriors have moments of weakness. in fact just last night I had one just like that, I wanted to be able to sleep so bad and I felt horrible but no matter what I did I just couldn't sleep and I got so upset I sort of had a angry sad and confused rant on him and I felt bad as I did and didn't want to upset him but I had to be honest with him how I felt.

After I calmed down I apologized to him but sadly like I said even the strongest of warriors have moments of weakness

No, I don't feel He plans for everything that befalls us to happen, but I do feel He will use everything... if we will let Him.

Romans 8:28 "All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose."

Okay, this gets into free will and predestination which are kind of way above my pay grade. From my understanding, people may do horrible things to you that God allows- because He has given us free will, but He will use these things according to His purpose.

From what I gather from Scripture, humans are given free will up to the point that it violates God's will. Kind of like if people are under a dome, in an enclosed city. The people can move about freely and make choices under the dome, but can not move outside the dome. We can not move outside the sphere of God's will.

I guess Joseph in Genesis is the textbook example. He tells his brothers what they meant for evil, God used for good.

I don't think God really wants anything to befall us. I feel like when things do however, it's the result of the original sin brought by Adam and Eve's disobedience. Sometimes it's our own fault. Two years ago, I wanted to impress my PE Coach in college after hearing good compliments from him. And out of my pride, vanity, and stupidity, I injured my back and knees from overdoing some of the weight machines and improperly too....ever since then, I've been having back problems and knee joint problems. And God sometimes will make you reap the consequences of your actions. Sometimes, God will use the bad things and turn something better out of it. Consider the words Paul used in 2 Corinthians 12:8-10. The best thing is to not let your faith be shaken no matter what happens. Because in the end, pain and suffering will all be gone. (Revelation 21:4)

Though none of us are immune to trials and hardships, we can trust(if we're willing) that God is and always will be faithful towards us.

This is not my original thought, but this analogy helped me a lot when my sister died suddenly. Life is like a tapestry, and we only see the back of it. The knots and threads look a mess- it is not pretty. But God sees the front of it and it is a beautiful design. I think some things we'll never know the reason "why" this side of eternity. Some things we'll have to wait and learn when we get home. I know that in Heaven, I'll know why she had to go home sooner than anyone ever expected.

I hope this helps and does not sound trite.

Thanks everyone, well His plan does suck on the surface because we are all going to suffer (most likely) in one way or another but ultimately it will work out positively for those that believe in Him absolutely.

I was just considering my situation because sometimes I make it worse by my own choice but if I blame it on God then I feel better.

Maybe not blame it on God- but say "God, I screwed up, but I know you can use my screw ups to your purpose if I get out of the way." That makes me feel better about my own messes. I sure make a lot of them, I can tell you.

You know on one of my walks a while back I saw an ant hill and God placed an analogy in my heart.
Consider the point of view of the ant, to the ant everything looks huge just the tiny area around it's ant hill is like us walking in a massive city but from my point of view the things that appear huge and scary looking to the ant is small and insignificant. Also the ants understanding of the world and how it works how gravity works and my intelligence compared to the ants is vastly greater than that ant could ever hope to have.

The ant can only see the area it can walk to and everything is huge and scary to it and it also could never hope to know and understand things like I do but it works hard and continues to work for the colony and to keep everything flowing in it's natural order, it doesn't have any idea how vastly my intelligence is compared to the ant and it has no idea exactly how much bigger the world really is and how small the things in it's way as it goes through life really is.

God has this amazing way of teaching us using small little things if you only have the ears to hear and the heart to understand he will even use something as simple as an ant

You can attest to my messes? Lol. I know what you meant, it just read funny. :) I have a chronic case of foot in mouth disease.

I am kidding with you, I know what you meant. :) You are a very sweet lady, God bless.

That analogy you speak of reminds me of Proverbs where the ant is being mentioned. We could definitely learn a lot through the smallest, unlikely, and simplest things.

No, I meant not blame God because it might give you the wrong impression about God, like He is not good and loving- like make you feel resentment toward Him. Here is a song that kind of demonstrates what I mean:

I've heard it described as free will within our nature. God has free will, but I believe every Christian would agree that God cannot lie...it's out of his character and he CANNOT lie. We are sinful, our sin touches everything we do so we have free will but not to do anything that is totally good (such as living a pure life for Jesus), that takes divine intervention :).

I didn't know proverbs speaks of an ant, do you know which verse it is?
