    Default Thoughts about thoughts plus thankfulness

    Accept bad intrusive thoughts. Trying to rid yourself of the thoughts or pushing them away only makes them worse. Intrusive bad thoughts are not a reflection of who you are. God is not going to judge you for bad thoughts that pop into your mind against your will. It is no sin to have a bad thought, whatever the content, pop into your head. Don't ask God to forgive you of such thoughts. Remember that God loves you very much and no thought will ever change that. Let the thoughts be there and let them leave when they want to leave. I would not suggest rebuking them in Jesus name because that is just another way of trying to force them to leave you. I would definitely encourage you to think on good things such as the love of God and everything bright and beautiful so to speak. As Philipians 4:8 says " Whatever is true, whatever is noble,whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent and praiseworthy, think on these things" Whatever you do, don't beat yourself over the head with this verse. It is not intended to say don't ever have bad thoughts pop into your mind. Everyone has bad thoughts. This verse is encouraging us to purposefully think on good things. Remember that "there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" Romans 8:1. And don't forget to give thanks! " Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Ephesians 5:20. One way I take this verse is to thank God for the people you love and the people who have plucked your last nerve. They are in your life for a reason. Or if you may never see the person again, you met him or her for a purpose. Maybe, for instance, to pray for that person. Remember that JESUS LOVES YOU!!!

    Thoughts come and go but to dwell and continue thinking on bad thoughts will cause sin.

    Same idea for when a man looks at a woman with lustful eyes, even though he didnt touch her he still committed adultery.

    The man saw a fine looking woman and his thoughts uncontrollable comes to mind. The thoughts are bad.

    So what will this man do? Dwell on them or turn his attention elsewhere and focus his mind back on Jesus?

    I agree with you that dwelling on a bad thought is sin. I don't deny that. Yet having a bad thought pop in your mind is not a sin.
