If you are a feminist, you might not like these songs. I get amused getting a mental image of a Millennial Feminist busting a blood vessel if they heard certain songs from the past.

Here's one from Disney's Summer Magic starring Hayley Mills:

Yes, Hilary Clinton got herself in trouble for that one, lol. She said she wasn't a "Stand by Your Man" type, but she obviously was.

My grandparents listened to old country, so I remember listening to this as a kid.

I love Hank, grew up listening to him too. Lol. I used to sing this to my grandmother who loved to cook.

These songs are making me reminisce about my childhood. :)

Now you made me think of Kaw Liga:

My grandmother grew up listening to him. She could yodel, too. I remember her singing to Hank Williams records. That is probably why I like him, because I loved her so much. Plus, he was an Alabamian. I don't know what it is, but people in Alabama are really proud of our fellow Alabamians.

I'm sorry. I ought not single out Millennial feminists. The feminists of the Baby Boom era are just as bad, or worse. I just think the Millennials haven't heard these songs and would hate them for not being politically correct. Baby Boomers and Gen Xers have probably heard them. Though I am a weird Gen Xer and have listened to a lot of old music others my age have not.

I've never been fan of country music. It was the music played at bars my drunkard dad frequented and dragged us off too.

Has anyone really considered the lyrics of this song? Talk about room for others to mock submission to husbands in the most negative sense. The lyrics are oppressive, ignorant, and quite depressing.

A bit more of a direct message by an old Christian punk band.

Are you a feminist? The lyrics can be what you make of them. They don't have to be about adultery and forgiving a husband for that, it can be for whatever things a man does that is hard to understand. Maybe he shuts her out emotionally and plays video games instead of talking to her. It can be what you make of it.

I have never heard this song before, but I literally laughed out loud. Not my thing, but funny nonetheless.

That was insulting and meant to be inflammatory. Thanks.
It was a question. I certainly did not mean to insult you, just asking. I did not mean it to be inflammatory, either. Although if you think being asked if you are a feminist is insulting- then that's good! It must mean you are not a feminist, after all.

I was trying to ascertain your world view, that is all.

A song the feminists probably don't appreciate... American Woman (The Guess Who).
