My 1990 ford 150 trys to shut off when switching gears and or brake real quick? It trys to shut off and has shut off at stop signs or switching to reverse or drive.

It doesn't do it if i give it gas as soon as i switch.

Its automatic

It could be a leak in one of the vacuum lines.

Sounds like the TPS (throttle position sensor). Maybe the torque converter but more doubtful.

Lol you have nooo idea. My truck was slammed by a suv. The frame turned into a crooked L. Broke the motor mounts and shifted everything from the cab to the front bumper over to the right. That wreck changed both our lives. We both have been having problems ever since.

But oddly enough I went to school to fix the truck and ended up so far making a career out of being an auto painter going on 5 years. Starting to look for a change in life because I got to start planning to help my back before it forces me out of work.

Anyways yes its been through a lot

Ill have to check because in school I had to beat the throttle position rod back into shape and then try by trial and error to get the gears positioning right so when I'm in reverse I wasn't in actual drive. So that trial and error, I got close enough and left it there but ever since I have to wiggle them into gear.
