We celebrate this day to remember the people who fought for the freedom we have today, the people who fought to protect this country and to allow us to have our daily every day lives were and are still hero's. It was a thankless task that most take for granted, I have always pondered about the things we have and how we all take it all for granted. I have always respected those who fought for our sake and have not remembered them only once a year but often times through out the year.

The sacrifice they made is more than most can understand, many died and those who survived were mainly injured and some are unable to work because of it. Not only that but consider the family members who lost their precious loved ones for the sake of our freedom and the families who have been struggling to help those who returned but were badly injured and the flash backs of the war and all they had to endure is enough to drive any person insane.

We have all the rights all this freedom we have clean water we have plenty of food we have a way of life in which most in the world don't have because of these people, and yet most Americans constantly complain about life they take even freedom of speech for granted, very few even consider the things we have only because of these hero's and even today as we celebrate them many do so but not in their hearts because they do not understand the cost nor do they really consider the blessings we have because of these people. They celebrate today because it's the thing to do and because it's the status quo to do so but how many in their hearts truly celebrate or remember?

I remember when I went to see Stephanie in Arizona I took a train to see her and I met a war veteran who was missing a leg and I wanted to help him with his luggage. It was an honor to me to help this man who fought for all I have and as I was about to leave with Stephanie and her dad who came to pick me up I told this man how many people are ungrateful for what they have because of people like him I told him how no one ever considers the cost of our freedom and our every day way of living and very few even care enough to remember these hero's. I then continued by saying but there are those of us who consider and think upon these things and have great respect for the ones who fought for all we have, I finished by saying I just want you to know that there are those of us who remember and honor your deeds.

This veteran's face was both surprised and happy and he thanked me for my words but his face reminded me just how few people really are thankful, his face was as if very few people have ever said such a thing to him. We as Americans must not remember and celebrate our freedom that was fought for at such a great cost once a year but all year because these people lost so much not seeking praise or honor and they rarely ever remembered for their heroics but it's because of them we have what we do.
