Wisdom teeth are no fun :(

I was blessed that when I went in to get braces at 15 they took a look at my wisdom teeth and they were coming in straight and normal so the orthodontist just expanded my jaw to make room so I still have mine and they were definitely painful coming in...just remember the pain is only temporary :)

I had my impacted wisdom teeth surgically removed when I was about 24 years young :) I had to be anesthetized and operated on by a Doctor Ballard. He makes dog food you know, so it took a lot of trust to let him put me to sleep and go under his knife LOL. I hope the pain does not bother you too much! Clove oil also helps dental aches.

Advice for do the road. I couldn't get my wisdom teeth removed when they were coming in, because everyone one swelled the back of my jaw enough that I could neither open nor close my mouth for three weeks.

I wish I had been able to. It din't bother me at all back then, but the wisdom teeth crowded my other teeth so much, the floss either couldn't get through or would fray immediately when it did get through.

It's 40 years later. Three out of four wisdom teeth have had to be extracted from Rotting. (Much more expensive now than back then too. lol) Plus four other teeth have since been removed. Two because they were shoved right out of the place they belonged, (One went in front of the other teeth and one behind.) And two because I could never floss them.

Honestly? What's cheaper? Getting 1-4 wisdom teeth removed now, or 4-8 teeth removed 30 years from now? (And I'm not even bringing up all that nice dental work my parents spent so much money on that was completely ruined because four new teeth came along.)

I know it's not fun use of money, but it's worth it in the long run use of money. Check out the price of dentures today, and then multiply that by 5 - 10 times -- because inflation often advances faster than pay increases.

Average age for getting wisdom teeth in is 20-23. Demi was early and you're a little late. That's why they say "average."

I had my three remaining wisdom teeth pulled out when I was 19. There wasn't enough room for them.

I don't remember much about my wisdom teeth. I was in the military when I had them removed, and the extraction was scheduled long before any of the four of them had begun to rupture. I remember getting the injection for sedation, and I remember that after the oral surgery I was on bed-rest for 96 hours. Other than that, it's all kind of a pharmaceutical-fueled blur.

The first day, you have to be very careful to make sure the wound clots. (Gauze in mouth for several hours, and don't drink or smoke.) Then watch how you eat or drink anything for the next day, because the scab can pull off, air gets in, and you don't want "dry socket."

After that, you're fine. So, max, one day off. And if you can get it done at the end of your work week, (which for you, I think is Saturday afternoon), then you only lose part of one day of work. Sorry, if it doesn't get infected before it forms a scab, it never will, so no week long vacations.

As for heavy fumes? Yeesh! Wear a face mask. I plan on you dying old, not dying middle-aged. (As if I can really plan your life.)

Gotta be honest, when I saw this thread, I thought the topic would be different. However, we are in the misc thread...

Yeah, I remember all my friends were getting their wisdom teeth pulled at age 13-16. Man I hope I won't ever need to have mine pulled; I hear it hurts more with age.
