I have seen a pattern that the more ferocious the biblical discussions may be, the less one is inclined to partake in such a venture, as one has the feeling that should one post a post on a biblical theme, one is often bombarded with a few who decide to pick apart the theme. The results tend to be heated arguments rather then raised points.
I have watched newcomers come and go and I've not been here that long! Yet if one avoids biblical discussions, one feels in a safer environment.
On another site I am on there are three or four members who jump on various biblical themes others would like ton discuss. One recent theme is hell, where if one believes hell is an eternal punishment one is pounced upon with various quotes and scriptures, even to the point of pulling apart ones bible and the inaccuracies of the scriptures. (I looked it up and I quoted out of "Strong's concordance" onty to be told by one person that Strong's has many inaccuracies... Seems one can't give a statement even if it is word for word scriptures!)
This site, as it has many different outlooks and opinions is more accepting but still one can feel that one has a scripture revealed to one by God, and one is keen to share it and does, and then finds so much against what one has mentioned that one can puzzle which site one has joined!

I like healthy debate. I like different views. I do say though one does need to be gentle on each other and respectful! Some scriptural arguments have gone back and fore with some quite personal remarks which makes one puzzle if it is the scriptures which are being brought into the debate or is it a game of personal remark calling, so one needs to be careful to avoid such remarks and keep ones points removed from being personal. If it gets personal stand back and leave the debate before one takes the debate too far!

Christianity and being a Christian is a whole lot more then biblical debates and discussions. Most of the non biblical themes are based on what is called "Fellowship", which is greatly missing in churches today. Fellowship is so miss understood in Britain. I never forget a pastor saying " Let us fellowship together" and took the church service. We sang some hymns and choruses. We listened to the pastor preach. We sang some more hymns and services and said "Amen" to a prayer the pastor said.... And at the end of the service we all went home. No fellowship whatsoever!
And that's the point. If we in our Christian lives go to every church service but have no lives outside of our church with no hobbies to share or no fun with other Christians outside the service,we become quite boring to others, especially to the unsaved who when asked to join them in church, the unsaved think "No way!"
What better way to attract the world then a group of Christians in fellowship just enjoying ones Christian lives in fun innocent activities!

I do agree with you to be honest, it makes me kind of feel bad now on what i posted, i think God has to work in me when it comes to being agitated or annoyed by things that annoy me if that makes sense... Ii like your post, it shows the dirt on my face, thank you for that, i don`t feel annoyed no more, i shall glance past the threads that i do not care to entertain, like you said, as long as all things are clean then it is fellowship :)...xox...

I did not mean to make you feel bad by posting... Was just reflecting on why I tend to post what I write... All is good. (Hugs!)

I have OCD myself and some of the posts drive me nuts but I learn to ignore it because there are other things more important. And yes, if this was just a biblical discussion then I probably wouldn't read or participate as much. I can't stand reading people arguing about the bible verses, picking everything apart. I feel everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.
