I generally stray from posting on the bible forum because of all the venom. I often said that forum did not look much different than what other secular chat sites are; the exceptions being no cusing on it, or violent threats.
But sometimes, maybe often, it seems to be the same wayward spirit as ghetto world onews there.

I haven't been here long enough to know how the forums are monitored to protect people. I know everyone has a right to express their opinions and views and I believe wholeheartedly in that. But where is the fine line between passionate opinion and verbal abuse? I have witnessed a few particular members that show NO Christ-like qualities in their behavioral responses toward NEW members, hurting members, and veteran members. I know people can be reprimanded and banned... but what does it require to achieve that?:(
Moderators are at their IRL jobs most of the day. They mod as volunteers. They're also liberal, (in the good sense of that word. I have no idea what their political beliefs are. lol) They will bend over backward to assume the best in people until proven otherwise.

AND we users need to prove our case more than once for the abusers. Just one report says "no big deal." Keep reporting says, "Big deal."

I've snooped on your page to see who you're talking about. You're not the only one to think that's abuse. We just have to prove our case one report at a time, and realize the mods have real lives outside of this.

The system works. It just takes some time, because they bend over backwards to be fair.

Christians..The most Infantile and Viscious People on the Planet

Did the title get your attention? Good! I've noticed that when Christians get together to discuss the Word, very little Word actually gets discussed. Instead, if somebody disagrees with you they are wrong! They are heritics, blasphemers, they are anathema. Then they are accused of pushing some kind of 'Ism" Catholicism, Protestantism; Episcopalianism, Lutheranism, Methodism, Presbyterianism; Mormonism, Seventh-Day Adventism, Unitarianism; Shi’ism, Sufism, Wahhabism,
animism, apocalypticism, Calvinism, creationism, evangelicalism, fundamentalism, humanism, inerrantism, mysticism, occultism, Pentecostalism, premillennialism, Puritanism, revivalism, sacramentalism, secularism, shamanism, trinitarianism, unitarianism, Zionism,

The fact of the matter is....They have grown more than you have, or they have not grown as much, Their experiences are different from yours giving them a different view of the same thing, like facets of the same gem.

Who are we to condemn anybody simply for disagreeing with us? We don't act much like Christians. We act like cannibals looking to eat each other
What? You don't like me saying that? Then go talk to God about it. Not the god of pride but the ONE GOD
And that's the problem. It's always the "I'm the good guy, and you're the bad guy" Even when writing something like that, it is still Us against Themism. "I'm better than that." Even me writing that is Us against Themism! It's pride. Always pride.

And you know what posts like that and this always produce? "Yeah, I'm with you! What's wrong with those people?" And, invariably it is usually "those people" saying that. I haven't read the rest of this thread, but I can guarantee someone will talk about how right that snippet was, how he believes the same thing, but "those people" will never get it. AND "those people blahblahblahblah BDF is those people." Followed by more about how horrible BDF is but how much better they are for not going there.

Same thing different day. Never mind. All I'm doing is contributing to the problem now.

I find it amusing when someone is trying to bully me. I've realized that the roughest threads are in the BDF forum. That's too bad because those threads are going full steam ahead, and my brain can't keep pace ;).

When people are mean, I think they are trying to bait you into losing your temper. If you don't lose your temper, I think it makes them miserable.

I enjoy this forum.
Though there are those that abuse their privileges, over all the freedom to express oneself is unmatched by other forums.
Go look at what's out there before you complain about this place.
You might be surprised.

sometimes we have to wonder why the 'angry-ranters' are allowed to keep going
on and on, on the same themes without correction...
especially when it is just their own battle that no one is interested in...

I totally agree. I get banged up sometimes on this forum and don't like it, but we are allowed to speak our minds here. What is worse than a forum that tells you what you are allowed to believe and what you are not allowed to believe? This forum thrives and I have to think it is because of the freedom we have.

Unfortunately a good number of users (even veterans) think that we have absolutely nothing else to do but to read every single post in every thread in every forum daily and thus deduce that if someone is pushing blatant heresy or being an outright jerk and is not instantaneously banned that we must be intentionally permitting their bad behavior.

In reality, for the most part I single handedly handle most of the forum drama and read (when I have time) the majority of the posts in a couple of the sub forums in which case by far the majority of posts made on CC are never viewed by me unless someone clicks the "report" button.

Depleted, you're lucky that I like you because otherwise I would have to ban you for referencing me and liberal in the same sentence.

To be fair, I borrowed that post from the OP on a different thread. It caught my eye and had a lot of truth in it. But you're probably right... :)

The tone of this topic was not accusatory toward moderators. Being new, I had questions. I know y'all aren't hovering over your computers, reading 1000's of posts. ~ What I witnessed really bothered me and I wanted to know how to help the next "victim". ~ I understand... truly, and don't expect censorship. I wouldn't want to belong to a site who made me afraid to say something.:)

Honestly, I was not complaining. I too like this site. I am new, witnessed a hurting person being bullied to the point of leaving the venue. I felt bad for them. My impulse to protect is what prompted my thread. As for myself, I can handle my own.

I don't know how mods are chosen but it would be a good idea to have someone who frequents the forums a lot and is trustworthy and can hold their own in the bdf without becoming hostile
