So this is the funniest thing. My dad, who tended to not really so internet inclined other than work, had I think a Holy Spirit led idea for a blog. I know that is a weird sentence, but i really think it is what I've been praying for for a long time as far as "what to do with my life" in a sense.

Basically, with his blessing, me and him brainstormed for like 20 minutes about a blog about caregiving. In my case we jokingly called it "junior caregiving" since I'm a twenty something.

God willing, it's gonna be called "ArtsieSteph's Junior Caregiver's Guide." I joked that it sounded like a girlscout's handbook, and he just ran with that in a creative way that I've never seen. I prayed sorta to have the Holy Spirit guide what he was gonna say about...you know what I should do with life for right now. And boom he started going off on these ideas like, what if some of the stuff you've gone through are like the "badges?!" And you can illustrate the whole thing! It can turn into a book!

It was crazy. Just some prayers for us to both have wisdom about this. Because I know for a fact this is gonna be good for dad, because I'll be able to ask him about things in the blog. It'll be amazing. God willing, like I said.

Brilliant idea, but making it into a book is going to be a hard sale though. If it's on the web, why would someone buy it?

But still a brilliant idea. Write some how-to articles. (How-to survive being the caregiver. Or he can write a how-to survive when your daughter is your caregiver. lol) Keep developing badges for special occasions, like you just did. Connect to other caregiver sites and forums, making sure to add your link in with your signature. (ahem... "making sure to include your link in your signature." hinthint ) Collect caregiver advice from others. (Ask the author if you can use that article with a link on your site, or if you can just add the link to your site.) And think of badges you can give other blog owners that fit them, and back link to your blog.

This is how you start getting your blog noticed. You develop friendships with others who have sites and blogs promoting the same thing. And when you become friends, you start promoting their sites on yours and they start promoting yours on theirs. this helps both get more hits. More hits means more notice, and you get more into the community of like-minded people. (This is most of what SEO means.)

Once you develop a big base for your blog, then it can become financial too. Companies like cheap advertising, and they like to advertise on related sites. Once you hit 5-6 digit numbers for views per month, you can start contacting companies to see if they'd like to put a sales ad or a banner on your site.

Which companies? Well, you and your Dad have been at this for a while now. What names mean something now that didn't before? For John, it would have been something like "Thick It." There are words that have joined the conversation in your house now. Products needed.

This might not make it as a book, but you can make it something that will bring in money without doing that. One of the badges I coveted when I had a website was from another site at the time -- the "Family-friendly" logo. I had to ask that site for the logo -- the badge. And they had to check out my site to see if it qualifies. Work on this idea with your dad and I can see in a year or two, other sites wanting an ArtsieSteph Badge for their site too.

That advertises your site more, and the cycle continues.

Also, gather testimonies from cancer survivors, and/ or those who have lost loved ones to cancer. I'd be more than glad to share mine with you. I'm sure others here will too. :)

Just read it. Being eagle-eyed as to what goes better in which order, your last paragraph should go first, and the first paragraph go last. It just makes more sense as people are reading it. :)

I'm amazed God has made it so that some people even in Romania, the Philippines, and Ireland have taken a look :D
