“Life is not about hoarding wealth but about spreading it around. God can act to see to it that the creation is nourished, but he uses us humans to see to it that our fellow humans have their needs met. We live in a world where the poor are daily reminders that we too have an obligation to meet, not only to ourselves but also to one another. In order to do this we, like Jesus, need to eschew three things: comfort, safety and security.”
― Michael Hardin, The Jesus Driven Life: Reconnecting Humanity With Jesus

Would you agree or disagree with the statement? (Especially the first and last sentences.) Personally, I both, agree and disagree with a lot of what Michael says.

I agree and disagree. We have to take our personal responsibilities but I think it sort of comes down to owning our things and money instead of letting them own us. I don't think God wants us one catastrophe away from poverty...but I think He wants us to be willing to be selfless.

I've never agreed and disagreed as much with any book a I did that one :p

You are the very first person outside my own personal group who has told me they read that book. How did you happen to run across it?

You. Lol. I was reading a purpose driven life and you suggested it. Tough read but thought provoking and worthwhile for sure.

This scares me. They say the memory is the first thing to go.

It was a very in passing conversation. In a "what are you reading" type thread. I wouldn't really stress over it much. It was six months or more ago. More like 8.

I remember it only because I was reading a purpose driven life and bored with it. This one seemed much less trendy and cool and much more challenging. lol. And the way you mentioned it was a bit of a dare....maybe dare is the wrong word but a challenge anyways. And I've learned to look into your book recommendations...lol.

Thank the Lord you laid that other book down..... the author of that book is a false teacher.
