Why do people think you are?
I guess that all depends on what a person thinks a Christian is. Like I personally think someone that believe's that the due penalty for our sin, that we ALL deserve, and that a perfactly just God would have to give us, was put on and taken by the sinless Jesus who laid His life down for us on the cross so that justice could be served, and so that His righteousness could be applied to us (by His grace alone completely undeserved and unearned by us), thereby bridging the gap between us and the Father opened up by Adam's original sin, allowing God's the Holy Spirit to indwell us forgiving our sin and forever changing us and empowering us to live more like we were created to, finding an understanding, peace, purpose, and fulfillment that ONLY He can is. This is what a Christian is in my experience and what I read. I don't think it's a club, philosophy, or set of words recited that we just simply decide to start following. I DEFINITELY don't think it's a political party we decide to back or support.
I would honestly love to hear what you think a Christian is Willie, because I know you think that my view makes God a big bad meany, and I've said it to you before and I'll repeat it again now, but if God did not put the wrath you've earned for your sins on Jesus that day, and you don't believe that Jesus took your due punishment from God on that cross, then brother that means you will be taking it after death. You're no spring chicken man, and my heart hurts to think that you may be one that Matthew 7:21-23 is describing on that day. I'm sure people with will think I'm being judgmental, and how dare I speak like this to you, but man I am only doing it because I care and think your deceived into thinking you have it all figured out, maybe it's for no reason, but I have hope He can use it for good. You are a nice guy, and I see you trying to do what you think is right for people, and can appreciate that, but to God all your "niceness and feelings of whats right" is like filthy rags. Truth saves, not feelings.
BTW I agree that whether or not "people think" you are a Christian is irrelevant, but when you get the nitty-gritty basics of the whole point of why Jesus even came wrong, it's not unreasonable to assume what's reasonable. I love you man, I hope you at least try to understand my angle here.
