The news just said that America has 800 military bases overseas....and the Marines are about to set up another base in the Helmand province in Afghanistan.....

Just like Rome....we place our legions all over the known world for the sake of American interest........while our nation grows base, corrupt and more wicked by the day.........

it seems our history will mirror Rome......

Disclaimer-->As a Marine from the 80's I am as patriotic as can be....but also fully aware of history and why it repeats itself.....

What is your view of the above....?

The armed forces of the US are spread too thin around the world and can't be sustained without a great cost to be paid.

when I was growing up, it used to be a honor to join any forces that wanted to defend
our country, it's citizens - now it seems to be just a place for any and all to trade for
something that will benefit their life-style...

after all, 'witch-craft' is an acceptable religion...go figure!

I don't think America is going the way of Rome. Rome didn't have a Constitution based on individual rights, checks and balances, and freedom from persecution. And now we have a president who wants to stand up for our Constitution and stop all the political correctness that has punished christians for standing up for their beliefs.

...And thank you for your service!

I agree, because after all is said and done, the only nation that will be left standing is the new Jerusalem. when every military nation will be pulled in to destroy Jesusalem they will all turn to ashes in an instant. These are the ones that will fight against a God they do not know, thinking they can defeat it.

Obviously I never said that.......However.....I can biblically deduce that when nation does the following...judgement will not linger....

a. Throws the truth under the bus in favor of wickedness
b. Murders it's own babies in the womb
c. Embraces sexual immorality and beastiality
d. By law legislates against biblical principles

Rome was a Republic that switched to a Democracy, grew base and fell.......just saying....Militarily we also place our legions all over the known world for the sake of our interest.....

My point was that regardless of how much wickedness abounds
in the USA, I's still rather be here than anywhere else in the world.

I think Maj Gen Butler of the Marines said it best

"I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. In China I helped to see to it that Standard Oil went its way unmolested."
Smedley Butler

i have read a great deal on the history of Latin America and the US involvement. very shameful. the United Fruit massacre where thousands of workers gunned down like nothing for protesting. i wonder what it feels like to be working for a food company and at the same time starving to death.
and just like rome the common people carry all the cost for expansion while the rich, who risk nothing, reap all the rewards from it. nothing ever changes.
