Once upon a time,
way in the distant past,
beyond many Galaxies from here,
I came up with a thread called soulmates.

Soulmates?
Friend?
Lover?

What is a soulmate to you?
Do you have a soulmate?
Please share for all of us.

No. I do not have a soul mate. Because they don't exist. It's a secular belief not found in the bible. And it's only real purpose is to give hope and false comfort to those bemoaning being single.

I'm sorry that you are lonely.
But a soulmate can be a friend.
I believe Adam and Eve is the perfect example of soulmates.
As is David and Jonathan.
As is many others in the Bible if we look for it.

Rather presumptuous of you to assume I'm lonely. Actually, as I'm typing this I'm sitting at my amazing gf's house on a visit. My answer has nothing to do with feeling lonely, it has to do with the truth.
But by changing the meaning of soul mate you aren't improving anything. Soul mate has a very specific meaning behind it. People in modern society want to alter definitions to suit their purposes and beliefs, making language more and more divisive and unreliable.
Soul mates origins are in ancient pagan Greece. Romantic in nature. The idea that two people are created for one another romantically. This goes against biblical teachings that we are made for God, not other people.
This is akin to Christians using the word "karma". Karma has a very specific meaning and that meaning excludes the God of the bible. But many Christians try to alter the meaning by saying it's the same thing as "you reap what you sow", when it's not the same.
Lastly many try to use Adam and Eve for their argument but it's a weak argument. They were the first created humans. To assume their situation is meant to be applied all these years later, to all Christians, is the definition of stretching to misapply scripture to your beliefs.

So your girlfriend is not your soul mate?
So what IS a soul mate?

I'm married. Is my husband my soul mate?

Interesting topic...

Been thinking Ugly.

You know, actually without a soul mate a person IS a bit lonely.
You know how they say that you could be in a room full of people but still feel lonely? I think this is because you get that feeling that no one really understands you.

I think a soul mate is someone who really undersands you.
The mate of your soul.

I don't think romance has to be involved, although it could be and would be very ncie.

for us, Hub and me, we know for sure that our Saviour put us together
souly' for His purpose, for we have been our own personal witnesses as
our lives have unfolded according to His will, because we have surrendered
our ALL to Him, He is our Potter, we are His clay...

Like your play on words.
You sound so blessed.
Jesus said, He who loses His life, will find it.
Mathew 10:35

You give your life to the Lord, and you find your true life.

I don't believe in "soul mates" either.

I do know that sometimes people just "click" though. ...but I don't think it's destiny (like soul mate implies),
but simply two people feeling very comfortable together.

Interesting.

I feel comfortable with a lot of people.
But I wouldn't say they're my soul mate.

No. Feeling comfortable with the person is only part of it...

People who don't have it have a hard time believing in it.
Sort of like speaking in tongues...

I'd rather have negative facts than follow a pagan fairytale that contradicts the bible. I notice no attempt to prove me wrong. Wonder why...
