    Default Levar Burton Reads

If you are a person who grew up in the 1980s or 1990s, and you remember enjoying Levar Burton reading stories to you on the PBS show, Reading Rainbow, you might enjoy this free podcast I found on facebook. It is called "Levar Burton Reads" and he reads short stories for adults. They've all been highly enjoyable to listen to as I go about my cleaning out task this summer.

I thought I would share as it has brought me a lot of pleasure as did the Reading Rainbow show when I was a kid. Burton said the reason why he started the podcast is because his now grown fans kept asking when he would read stories for adults!

Actually, I remember Levar Burton as the blind guy on Star Trek.

I didn't watch Star Trek, but I knew he was on it. Actually, he was on Reading Rainbow much longer than Star Trek. The stories are really good if you like listening to stories being read aloud.

Did you watch Reading Rainbow on PBS as a kid? It came out in 1983, I think. I don't remember Roots and never saw it, so Burton will always be the story book host to me. His voice is very peaceful.

Yes, we watched once a week in class through the 6th grade.
Everytime I see LeVar Burton, I think of Roots. We watched it in third grade.

I loved Reading Rainbow. We watched it everyday after school, along with Mr. Rogers. We were very much a PBS home. Third grade seems kind of young to be watching Roots.

Yep, we watched Roots in third grade. They also taught us that white people were evil and would spend a fortune on slaves just to beat them to death.
I hated third grade. Fifth was better.

Well, I believe the people tearing them down for the most part are Democrats. Such a fine and tolerant gathering of politically correct people. Wonder what they'll tear down next? Montgomery, for having the nerve to serve as the first Capital of the Confederacy?

A few years back l was at a comic con in Denver and LeVar was the top talent there.
( Yup, thats the biggest they get at a Denver CC )

The line to get his autograph went all the way outside.

I remember thinking... since so many people showed up...is this guy going to have a story time?
I mean, how cool would it be for the dude from Star Trek to read us Where The Wild Things Are?

I'm not into Comic Con kind of stuff. I don't know one character from the next- but I would go if Levar Burton was there and ask him to autograph one of my storybooks!
