Most important, most crucial, is to seek Him first. Even if it's in little ways.

Well. It is exciting to find someone answering ones posts. I have a following on a model railway site.... I've slowed down a bit as it depended on what projects I have on the go and what progress I've made with them. For the first 200-500 views on my thread it was exciting. Then it surpassed all the other threads in that section. Has over 7000 views now, climbing towards 8000 the last time I looked. Fun but ten one has to keep projects progressing for the viewers to enjoy!

I developed a page on a gaming site that helped people move through all the steps required to complete a plot that had been around for years (whereas most plots were time sensitive and closed after a while)... it was approaching two hundred thousand views last time I saw it :D

That's a lot!
I've no idea how to make a website.
It was fun designing pages. I simply found a layout I liked and customized it with the desired backgrounds and fonts, colors, images, links, content etc. I learned how to parse HTML which is basically just reading code. I could not build a web page from scratch except maybe a very basic one, but I would still be able to put in buttons and links and images and such. I like a good creative challenge :D Many people on the site had all kinds of help pages, as the site itself was fairly extensive, varied, and complex in the array of choices of how to squander your time :D

My daughter originally signed me up and I discovered aspects of it that really engrossed me, such as page coding and page design :) It was fun :D It was also a way to have something shared with my daughter that nobody else in the family had. We were both avid players for a time :) She went through a really rough spell when her account started being hacked. That happened to too many people. The prized possessions that had been worked for so hard would be stolen by those did not want to put in the effort to get what they wanted. It eventually soured her of the game though she did get her account returned multiple times, and most of the stolen items, too, which was not always guaranteed in such situations.

nothing personal here or finger pointing, but we, hub and me, 'opted-out', after 'Conversion',
of having/seeking any kind of popularity/recognition with/of anyone on the face of this earth,
except Jesus Christ...
it was just a given!

Hi Steph, Just me, but I learned years ago that popularity. fame, fortune are fleeting things. Be humble, manifest the fruits of the spirit and God will make you what he wants you to be.

*nodnod* I guess at this point it's balancing what my flesh kinda wants, what God wants, and if God's will is for me to have some sort of "popularity" in man's terms

I can't believe I brought up Machiavelli looking back.

So sorry Steph. I think I stayed up late and wanted to share my own studies/moral dilemmas. Bah.

Hmmm. I never wanted fame (yuck), but I think all humans want some kind of recognition.

It feels good to know that someone appreciates what one is doing, whether it is a job or a hobby, especially if it is something that takes much time.

I've wanted that to be my focus, though I often wondered if that was just giving myself an excuse....I guess all I can really do is put content out there and try to keep God at the center.
Being talented is a gift from God. If what you do results in fame then that is part of Gods plan for your life. Many people in your position don't seek fame but just enjoy what they do and/or earn a reasonable living from doing it. To me having a talent and being able to earn a living from using it must be the most satisfying position to be in. So many including myself spend their lives working in unfulfilling jobs just to keep afloat. Thank God for his blessing!

Sadly I think my problem is I compare myself wth people who are "successful" in their fields of either youtube or whatever. And I think I'm jealous maybe....? Envious? It sucks to admit. It I think I am. Because I got my degree, I can really paint, yet there are little 17 year old kids making money off youtube and I can't even get a hi from them on twitter.

it doesn't help that I'm struggling with being worldly lately.

Nowadays people can literally make themselves a brand. As a Christian, what the heck can we do to counter that?

I'm an artist in the visual and sometimes musical sense, make YouTube videos every so often, but I don't want to be famous. Because famous people have to focus on themselves, have crazy/psycho "fans," and don't tend to have any privacy. Yet it seems now a days if you want to make any kind of living in entertainment or arts, you have to basically be popular.

I will not lie, part of me wants to be famous. Because of that, and because I know that God seeeks the humble, I fight that tooth and nail. Because I fear it would go to my head.

Anyone else battle this?
well I suppose I am rather popular and unpopular thereby being popular,I mean here on Christian Chat and other Christian Chat sites I have many friends,so I suppose nope I'm not worried I'm already popular, besides if I'm still favorable in God's eyes then that is far more wonderful to me!!!

Maybe that's what I need to focus on most...I forget that.

You're not alone ;)
me too like to compare myself to others who is success on their field..

there is a lady who like to try recipe and experiment.. if she is success she will posted it on cookpad, and she then create Instagram and she got bunch followers..

since she start getting famous, lot of people want her to endorse some product.. and yes! she is success doing that.. she sell BUNCH.. and then she publish baking book and on first copy she sold like 4500pcs!!! that is crazy!!
and not only that, she is otw making 2nd copy now.. thats awesome!

i think everything need patience..
we have to be consistent doing that..

like me, i'm making cooking video like year ago.. only posting 10 videos and give up.. lol
but 2 months ago i peek my channel and i saw some of my videos got more than 1k viewers..
that makes me happy and i start doing that again..

after 20k viewers i register to AdSense.. i then start collecting coin since each video i posted i got 1k-5k++ viewers (thats a lot for me)

until i made cupcakes videos!! i show people how to pipe flowers, hello kitty cupcakes and so on.. and seems no one here really interested on that.. so my viewers less than 100!! lol
plus! my coin reduce each day as well! i have no idea why! lol

that's makes me annoyed and i'm getting lazy again.. lol
but doing videos makes me happy, so i'll still doing that (i hope i can making money as well from my hobbies)

I'm pretty sure lot of successful people out there start from where we are now.. they keep trying and never stop..
and that's why we have to keep trying..
even if we are failed we have to gets up and keep trying again..
nothing to loose here.. we dont need to pay anything.. so, we can do that!! ;) if you're tired just take a short break but never really stop ;) i know we almost there! so we can do that ;)

and also this verse:
"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" 1 Corinthians 10:31

I typed too much!! lol
sorry for that -_-
