Not sure where you live but I live in Southern Michigan so we don't have big mountains. I have been to New Hampshire a couple times. I LOVE the mountains! I would probably do the same thing you did and go for a nice hike. I can't wait to go back or go to a place with great atmosphere and scenery like NH or a place with big mountains. Good choice!
Michigan? That state surrounded by two huge lakes, with lots of much-smaller lakes dotting the southern part? And you want to go somewhere else?

My dream for when we retired was to buy a Winnebago, tack on a 16' fishing boat behind it and travel the country to every freshwater fishing lake in it. First, we'd work our way from Philly to Lake Winnebago (in Minnesota), lake by lake, and Michigan was even going to cause a small detour just so I could say we drove to "London" too. Truthfully, I dreamed of the lakes we'd hit in PA, and then the lakes after OH, (OH, seems like a bunch of cities lumped together), including your state. So, it surprises me you don't think your state is lovely. It's got lakes! What else is needed? lol

I'd go horseback riding through the woods... just enjoy the earthy fragrances, the sounds throughout, and wrap the reins around the saddle horn and let the horse take me where he wanted to go... all the while in deep thought, I'm sure.

A day at the beach sounds perfect to me right now. I'd bring a couple of books, some music, a comfy chair and plop myself right now and do NOTHING. Except it would be a lot of something -- playing in the water, playing in the sand, napping, reading.

I need a vaycay like right now...

every NEW DAY is a very special Blessing, what we decide to do with it
has a lot to do with our Relationship with our Saviour...

personally, 'fishing and casting and pulling em in is one of our BEST REWARDS!...

If I had a day entirely to myself and no family or work.

I'd lay in the grass and question my purpose in life. And read. And work out. Ride a four Wheeler for no reason but fun. Go mudding.... Make mud if needed lol. But mostly I'd question when I was waking up and if it'd be depressing when this dream was over. Lol.
Sorry, I'm out of practice for youthful versions of fun, but have to ask -- what other reason is there to ride a four-wheeler besides fun?

So the other day, I was in a meeting with my boss and found out I am being laid off because the business is going under. I have three weeks of guaranteed work so it will give me time to find something else, which I am thankful about....but I was devastated. I decided to have a day for myself and asked my bf if he wanted to come since work has been rough for him, but he declined. We both went our separate ways to think about life. I ended up going to the mountains and went hiking. When I came back I felt rejuvenated and that I was able to finally think clearly and know everything will be okay. What would you do if you had a day to do what you want?
Hi renewed,

I'm so sorry to hear about your job. :( I'll be praying you find another job right away.

I'm not sure what I'd do. I guess I need to think about this one.

If I could for one day, I'd like to go to Israel. It's always been a dream of mine. But that would of course take more than 1 day, but God could transport me there and back in 1 day. :)

I use one daily to feed animals and check camaras and fences. I rarely get on one just for fun because time just doesn't permit it. And of I did it all the time it wouldn't be fun lol.

Hi RH

I don't know what I'd do because I've never had such a day.
I REALLY don't think I ever have.

Probably watch movies all day long.
If I wasn't already living in the mountains, I'd go there.

I'll tell you this though...I've learned that sometimes things go bad to go good.

kind of like Romans 8:28 but said in a more secular way.

All will be OK.
When you're 95 and look back on this, it'll seem like a drop in the bucket !

Blessings.

i'm with you on the mountains, tho. been in upstate NY so long, they're like family. :)

but! they don't call 'em Great Lakes for nothing. my son made his first trip to them last year, and declared they're like all the fun of the ocean with none of the sharks and jellyfish. ;)

The funny thing is, people think that when you are unemployed you have all the time in the world to do stuff.
Truth is, I did more (free time- stuff) in a week when working full-time than I did in a year of being unemployed :p

What I do depends a bit on the weather. Today I am planning to go see Dunkirk at the cinema.
how was it? you like?

I didn't say I don't think my state was lovely. I just really enjoy big mountains & that type of atmosphere. Sorry if the way I phrased my comment made it seem that way lol I was actually planning to take a trip to the west side of the state to go to a beach soon. I live right by southern Lake Erie. Anyway, in addition to the lakes, etc. in Michigan, you ask "what else is needed?"...in my preference, mountains lol

I appreciate everyone offering their support about my recent lay off, but my bf said something I didn't really want to hear, but he was right on the money. He plainly said, that maybe God didn't want you to be there? He said it at the worst opportune time and I wanted to kick his rearend because he didn't apologize. Just right when I was ready he said I deserve to be at a much better place. I'm feeling at peace leaving and I have a few job leads one of which may be working with my bf again lol

And you don't pop a wheelie while checking fences? I think you're doing your "work" wrong. Next thing you know, you'll be washing dishes without putting on the headset and performing your own private concert, (much to the concern of any family member worried that you're in great pain, because who can sing with headsets on anyway? lol) Work is supposed to be fun... at least, that's how I play it.

I consider that a curly hair or straight hair thing too. It doesn't matter which we have, we tend to like the other. I grew up in South Jersey, a very marshy kind of place surrounded by Shore. Sooo, what are my preferences? Solid rock and lakes. Anything but sand and sea. lol

Wouldn't it be hard to make that movie bad? Great story. It would be hard to screw it up.

(Although, hubby read a piece by a radical-lefter, who complained it didn't have women or people of color in it. Northern France in the 1940s and citizens with boats. Exactly how many of them were going to be woman or black? lol)

The Adirondacks?
i wish! my husband and i both grew up there.

job transfer meant the Catskills. also lovely, in their own way, but not like the Adirondacks.

are you a New Yorker, Fran? not many people would even know about that mountain chain. :)
