Wouldn't it be hard to make that movie bad? Great story. It would be hard to screw it up.

(Although, hubby read a piece by a radical-lefter, who complained it didn't have women or people of color in it. Northern France in the 1940s and citizens with boats. Exactly how many of them were going to be woman or black? lol)

i hear there's almost no talking in the film!

not talking?? :p ;)

Hehe
There is talking, but much of it focuses on air raids, the scenes at the beach etc.
The music is somewhat annoying, but the movie itself is good :)

i wish! my husband and i both grew up there.

job transfer meant the Catskills. also lovely, in their own way, but not like the Adirondacks.

are you a New Yorker, Fran? not many people would even know about that mountain chain. :)
Yes. But the Big City. It's nice down there actually. Depends WHERE.

I know both the Catskills and the Adirondacks very well.
The Catskills because they're close. Apple picking and all that.
When we didn't come to Italy, we'd go to the Adirondacks when the kids were little.
Rent a cabin on a Lake. Placid, Indian, George. We ended up liking Idian L. the best because it was the most quiet.
I LOVE THE MOUNTAINS.
Can't live without them.
So now I'm in the mountains of No. Tuscany.
Very beautiful.
Rock mountains. So they seem higher and they look like the Alps.
:)

Even when we"re alone, feeling low in spirit, we're never really alone. Like the Prophet Elijah, we just need a little time on a mountain alone with the Lord. Sustained by his precense. His was in a cave. Not bad. a place to rest, two meals a day, supplied by birds. Bread to eat.

all the southern lakes have some merit, i think. :)
we rent a 5 br house on Sacandaga every summer and jam the whole family into it.
it's squishy, but it's just a week or two.

we have friends in Bayside (Queens, i'm sure you know) and our daughter used to live in W. Islip. take the boat to Fire Island seems to be the thing to do? lol

i'd love to see Tuscany! my sister was there last autumn, and loved it.

right now, if I could or would be given a choice, I would be at the beach, 'floating'
in the healing waters,
and praying, and asking Jesus to take one or two burdens that are heavy right now../

but, I definitely know, that later, or tomorrow, everything will 'even-out' and that He
will give me the peace that I need...

I lived in Whitestone, right next door.

Both beautiful communities.
By the inlet of the ocean.
Bike trails, lots of green, manicured lawns.
Nice. Sent my kids to Catholic schools though.
Didn't like what they were teaching in public or private schools.l

Relatives up in Mineville near Ticonderoga.
Many trips to Whiteface Mountain to visit Santa and take
the elevator to the top! Where else!

So many nice memories...

Most burdens pass OtN.
And for those that don't, we look to God for strength.
Especially when we're feeling down.
He DOES give us strength.
Could you imagine if we didn't know Him ??

Blessings

Fran,

how well we both, hub and myself, will always remember when we didn't know/serve Him...
it just makes our thankfulness and appreciation grow and grow each and every day...
