Is it morally acceptable for a Christian to buy meat from a company that tortures and abuses their animals? I've been watching several Netflix documentaries about the meat market and slaughterhouses recently. My findings are shocking to say the least. Without going into gory details, there are slaughterhouses that do not kill the animals in a humane way. They are brutally tortured beforehand, sometimes for years and years, packed into overcrowded cages/rooms, stuffed full of chemicals that modify their natural body types etc. If anyone knows a meat company that treats their animals in a humane way, please share. Otherwise, should we, as Christians, look to becoming pescatarians? Vegetarians? Vegans?

If a person knows about a particular company abusing animals they should avoid buying their meat. Doesn't matter if they're christian or not.

Acts 10:15

“And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.”
1 Corinthians 8:8*- But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.

Romans 14:2*- For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

Romans 14:3*- Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

i do suggest praying on all your food for God to bless it

and if you can maybe try not to buy meat that comes from the places like you mentioned if you have the means to do it and are convicted

alas, Snug,

we cannot change our dna, and most of our bodies require 'meat', after all, we are carnivores, etc...
but, we do have the gift of choices and can learn how to feed ourselves with a clear conscience,
if need be...we appreciate your sensitivity...:):)

You probably shouldn't trust netflix documentaries. I use to be a butcher 17 years ago. We got all our beef from the same company called IBP. Nearly all beef you buy at the supermarket comes from cattle that grazes. The only time they feed on grains are when they transport north to the slaughterhouses. They spend no more than a few months in a feed lot, if necessary. They are stunned unconscious before they are killed. Drugs are only given to the cows if they are actually sick, and in the case of this company, all the slaughters were supervised by some sort of rabbi who certifies all the meat kosher. This company went ahead and did all the meat kosher, so there would be no cross contamination. I think this has become a standard practice in the industry, but I'm not sure. When I became a manager, I had to go to a presentation on it. It's a good company, or it was. I eat beef daily, without reservation.
The meat is fine, stop on by, I'll grill you a steak.

I've butchered a couple of pigs voluntarily (related to a lot of farmers).

Before they died, they were fat and happy.

Also, "torture" has become a pretty vague term.

To so me people, the act of caging and moving chickens around via trucks is torture. I think that's absurd.

You can't anthropomorphize critters.

I blame it on Disney.

The good book aka Bible says in Proverbs that a good man is kind to his animals.. while those documents are disgusting to watch we still have to eat.. by disgusting I'm talking about the infected or trampled ones... Correct me if I'm wrong but I put it under the "don't raise questions" category as far as morality.. Those without Jesus far out number us with and too few have the resources to rid the world of these kinds of things..
We'd have to go back and live off our own land to escape .. morality is an issue in every area of what we consume.. how much of it do we want to weigh ourselves down with?
Their sin or wrong doing isn't on my hands. I still have to survive

and you very well should Tom, they got both feet-sunk-in, in the very beginning of creating
THE FAKE, 'EYE-SCAMMING'...(if you look at IT, it goes into your BRAIN'...SCAM, MAGICAL images...
and then go learn your ABC's...

WITNESS-MEDIA-/SCAM='liars, who forsake all their Godly opportunities that they could be have,
and go for that 'acceptable LOOK - VOICE - POSTURING, and POSING" = 'FAKE-satan's FANTACY'
but most of all, the $$$!!! and obey theTODAY's LIES, of the ones who write
your 'pay-check', 'obey them at any cost'!!!...we've both learned the HARD-WAY...

as for ours and behind generations, we, as in 'hub and me's , 'are the 'LAST', like it or not,
doesn't matter, except of course, it is the only thing that really 'does-matter'.
we PRAISE JESUS CHRIST and LOVE HIS, now and in His future for us all...

well, when and if Jesus puts you into the 'wilderness', where 'everything becomes brand-new',
because what ever you 'get' from then on, you realize that it can only come from HIM/PURE LOVE,
Jesus Christ,
because, you either sold for almost nothing, then offered to who ever, and at last, thankfully 'burned'...
it was just 'trinkets and stuff'.,.to each, his own way...

it's hard to believe how hard we 'both fell'...Jesus has shown us ourselves quite clearly,
not pretty, 'back then' - but 'BEAUTIFUL ASSURANCE NOW'...PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME, AMEN...

Zi,

nothing complicated being said here,,,Jesus called, He 'broke us' we were more than ready/willing,
for something REAL', - we surrendered, because He showed us Himself and He showed us ourselves -
can anything compare here, where satan rules'???
