In addition to glorifying the Lord, it forewarns his people what is to come. Whether good or bad. God is merciful so he always gives his people a heads up before major events take place. As Jesus said in John, I tell you these things now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am who I am.
Isa 41:21 Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.
Isa 41:22 Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.
Isa 41:23 Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
Isa 41:24 Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.
Isa 41:25 I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.
Isa 41:26 Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.
Isa 41:27 The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

God challenges all religions,and people,to prove that their God is true,by telling the end from the beginning,which God told us the history of mankind,from Adam and Eve,to the beast kingdom,where God puts the world down,and the saints dwelling in heaven.
God tells us of prophesy to prove that He is the true God,and also to warn the saints of things,and to avoid them,especially spiritual deception.
Rev 17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
Rev 17:10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
Rev 17:11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
Rev 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
Rev 17:13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
God told us every kingdom that shall arise,which Daniel points out the last 4 kingdoms,and the 7th kingdom coming from the 4th kingdom.
5 are fallen.1.Egypt 2.Assyria 3.Babylon 4.Medo-Persia 5.Greece.One operating at the time that John wrote Revelation.6.The Roman Empire,who does not lose their dominion until God puts them down.7.The ten horn kingdom,the world split in to ten sections with a leader in each section,which will continue for a short space,three and one half years,and then the 8th king,the man of sin,the beast,who is of the 7,for Satan influenced those 7 kingdoms.
The ten horn kingdom will fail at obtaining peace on earth,so they hand their power over to the beast,and the world follows the beast as the solution for the world to have peace.
Rev 12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
The crowns are on the heads,Satan in the spiritual realm deceiving people.
Rev 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
The crowns are on the 10 horns,Satan in the physical realm deceiving people,through the man of sin,the beast,and the ten horn kingdom is the physical dominion of the beast.
1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1Ti 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
1Ti 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
1Ti 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
God warns us of the new age movement,and their interpretation of the Bible based on spiritual evolution through nature,the exaltation of people,and the man of sin will be of the new age movement.Jesus is not Lord and Savior,but a good teacher in spiritual enlightenment,and an ascended master,and avatar.
This will occur at the latter times,the last days of the last days.
2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
The time will come the world will want to hear the Bible according to the new age movement,which the unified religious system is based on that,and Christianity will rapidly decline in impacting the world with the truth.

The next kingdom to come is the ten horn kingdom that involves the world,but God already warned the saints about it,and they should warn people of the world about it,for save some with compassion,save some with fear to warn them not to follow the world when they come together.
Nah 2:3 The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees shall be terribly shaken.
Nah 2:4 The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.

Prophecy to many is about dreams and visions and fortune telling, but prophecy is being the lips that god speaks through right? look at all the prophets in the bible, what is one thing most had in common? they were to used for God to speak through.
One can have dreams and visions and one can prophesy with the thus saith the lord thing but doesn't mean you have the gift of prophecy.
For me prophecy is when God speaks through us to impact others. Prophecy is to build and to encourage to edify and to guide others it is not about seeing the future or being a prophet and yes one can be a prophet and have the gift of prophecy but many claim to be prophets and I have seen little evidence of those claims. However I have seen a few on here and I only know they are prophets because I know the fruits of one sadly many who claim such titles do not.
