Hi everyone :)...I was just wondering what time of day to you find to read your Bible...I like to get up in the morning and put the kettle on, feed the cat while the waters boiling then make my coffee, dive back in to bed and start reading...I like the mornings because it is quiet, but i understand that some people can`t always read first thing, especially mums with children as sleep is very important, what about those who have to go to work, do you read a morning devotional, a little snip it to get you going for your day, do you make your time in Gods word special, some people go to extreams of turning the phones off or not even looking at the computer untill they have read their Bible, some people have a special place for their quiet time, was just wondering how you spend time in the word:confused:...xox...

I'd like to read in the morning but I wake up at 5:30-5:45am and have to leave by 6:30 at the latest for work. & I need to get ready, eat, sometimes pack a lunch, feed the cat, etc. & then when I do sit down in the mornings I am always looking at the clock so I wont be late. I am able to read a little at work and I am able to listen to podcasts, etc. during work also....but, sometimes there are alot of interruptions so its not a good "quiet time". So, usually I read when I get home or at night but like Demi777 said, I don't have a rhythm and there are days when it can be really hard to pick up a book, bible, or even focus for more than 5 mins at a time. Stinks. I'd like to do better though.

I read right away in the morning when I get up. I used to just grab it and read it in bed before I got up, but realized that I was still pretty foggy and wasn't getting everything I could out of it. So now I usually get up and dressed and come down to the couch to read. If I have time, I also like to do a devotional book and write in my prayer journal at that time, but I don't always get time to do that every day. I have also been trying to close off the day with a few verses in Psalms and Proverbs or something so I have that to chew on as I fall asleep but so far I haven't made enough of a habit of that to get it done every night. Hopefully in a month or so reaching for my Bible right before bed will be as natural as falling off a log :).

In the morning, at lunch, before I go to bed, and often in between. Those are times I set aside for reading plans on the Bible app and verse of the day, but I try to read more than just at those times and usually do.

Good OP.

I read Scripture in the morning, we tend to get up pretty early (between 3-4 a.m.). At night we have our devotional time, and right now it is reading "The Pilgrim's Progress" to our 7 year old daughter, discussing the book and verses it uses, then prayer. We are also reading through John with her.

Then once I go to bed I typically read some Christian work.

Sometimes it's hard going to bed!

HAHA Love the picture, it says it all :)...I really enjoyed watching the pilgrims progress on youtube, i think it`s something that can be watched many times although there are a few versions and some not as good as the original...I will have to look out for the book, i have many grand children and would love to read it to them when they come to stay, i have got rid of my T.V so it would be a great thing to read and have a story time with them, is it written for children or is it the adult book...xox...

Rosemaryx,

I'm reading the unabridged version, though they do have abridged versions that may be easier to read. This is the second time reading it to our daughter.

I find that my mind and spirit are at the most quiet late at night, so I usually do my bible study usually after 11pm and before 12.30am...then watch a bit of TV and go to bed.

I have a devotional Bible I read every morning when I wake up and and every night before I go to bed. Other than that there is no set time when I read my study Bible/regular Bible, it's whenever I feel I need the Word :)

it's such a personal question/thing, and if Jesus is calling, the Holy Spirit will
always set your pace, if you are open/willing to it...so many comforts and rewards...

Hi oldthenew...Yes it is personal to each and everyone of us...My son who is in prison doing life has just been saved \o/:D, he has been walking with our Lord for a few months and already the changes in him are amazing...I spoke to him yesterday and he was telling me he is so filled up with the word that he feels he cant read no more, i advised him the best way i know how and told him to start praising God from his lips and singing to God as this is also worship, and also it will help to keep the evil one at bay...I go through stages of reading from everyday to missing days, i used to feel guilty if i missed a day, but it`s like you say, it`s the leading of the holy Spirit that matters, i can read my Bible sometimes and come away with nothing, that is when i am reading in my own strength, but when i am being led, i always come away with a little nugget :)...Sometimes if i am not up to reading the NT, i like to read a Psalm, like you said about comfort, these are so soothing when feeling lost, alone, tired or sorrowful, i like the Psalms when i feel like a good cry lol, they seem to cleanse my everything...xox...

Late at night. Often while I am laying in bed. Other times of day aren't available to me.

There was a time when I would read my Bible at night before going to sleep, I found for me that I usually started to fall asleep, which was not a good sign as well as fail to absorb much. Since then, my routine (which used to be simple until I found about my thyroid) is get up, listen to the news, take pill, read Bible (though there are times when I am sleepy, so I just soak what I can), read Our Daily Bread, pray, then eat breakfast, get dressed, use the facilities, and depending on the day whether it is a Monday I work or a Friday I work, then I am driven to work as well as on the usual days Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Saturdays and Sundays, this schedule is different, I wake up, take pill, now I am listening to Adventures in Odyssey on Sunday (since I found out could not go to sleep after waking up and that it is on 7 AM EST on the Christian radio station), eat breakfast, read Bible, read Our Daily Bread, pray, get dressed and then off to church to Sunday school (when it is not summer, the teachers have a break right now and I just bring a book to read and listen to the worship team practicing). But lately I have also been comparing the Bible to the various Brazilian biblical series that have been on TV (I have watched Moses and the Ten Commandments, The Miracles of Jesus, now finishing Joseph of Egypt and then starting Joshua and the Promised Land, these series are dubbed in Spanish to catch what is the same, what is different, what is understandable in the thinking of the writers of that series, and/or what causes red alarms or question marks to go off in my head (so far in this series I understand the thinking so usually this does not happen, this did happen more often with The Bible series as well as with AD: The Bible Continues but was still glad at that time that the programming was still on). There are times when I read a Christian book before I go to bed. Lately I have been having an appetite for such books and less science fiction and other books. I don't why, I still like those other books as well. Thanks. God bless. :)

I read my Bible at work during my lunch and breaks on my iPad. I also read a few chapters at home just before bed also on iPad . Most of my reference books are also on my iPad. It's cool to have Bible an reference tools all in one place .
Blessings

Hi Rosemary,

I don't have a set time of day. I read it a lot - morning, evening and sometimes throughout the day. It just depends. Some need to have a set time every day, we're all different.

With bible apps available, it makes it easier for us to have the word handy at any time of the day or night. I hope that means the we're reading it more often. :)

Many nights I can't sleep so one night I curled up in bed and began reading Revelation.

I don't recommend anyone to read that book at night when you're trying to fall asleep.
