In Keep a Quiet Heart, Elisabeth Elliott says, “Today is mine. Tomorrow is none of my business. If I peer anxiously into the fog of the future, I will strain my spiritual eyes so that I will not see clearly what is required of me now.”
How many times will we grow anxious over what hasn't even happened in our tomorrow's that time is stolen from the now of being still in God's presence? Delighting and tasting, seeing that He is good.
I do believe God wants us to set goals but when those goals take precedence over cultivating our relationship with him through worship, prayer and eating the daily bread of every word that proceeds from His mouth we become weak in our faith. That's when the fear sets in causing us to be tormented with discontentment. We don't leave our physical body hungry preparing for tomorrow's meal nor should we do it for the spiritual man's hunger.
2 Corinthians 6:2 KJVS
(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
