If God asked most of us to give away a $1,000 gift to someone who really needed it, and we could well afford to do so..... Wouldn't most of us do it?

Then why is it that we often neglect to give simply 25 cents (metaphorically speaking, of course) to people we meet every day, perhaps five or six times a day? That would be just a smile, or a small helping hand, or some other minor courtesy as we pass them in the course of our daily lives.

Because we wouldn't actually give the $1000 either

Not necessarily true. I know someone who gives fairly large sums quite regularly, and anonymously.... but neglects to consistently be kind whenever chances appear.

Actually i would if God asked me to or let me know to, in fact I have wanted to get into a lot of money just so i can give it away for a long time money is an amazing tool to see this amazing light in peoples faces of utter gratefulness and shock it's just not normal these days to be given money like that.

of course I do it whether I have a lot or a little to me money is only way to show his heart

Well, this thread was never, specifically, about cash money.

But, in truth, God has given much to many of us, and yet we often have to admit that we don't just as freely lavish the same kindnesses on "certain" others.

Well for me personally if the opportunity presented itself i would. The way the Lord views things regardless of the amount if it's genuine & from the heart he honors it. If the Lord sees his children giving in love without direct orders from him im sure it pleases him alot.

I wish I could say the same. But I know I probably actually choose to miss dozens of chances every day I am out in public......... and even just sitting here, typing on this forum.

If God asked me to give away $1000, I'd be flabbergasted. He has never spoken to me before...and now all of a sudden it's "Jon give that dude $1000". I'd definitely have my doubts.

Aw, c'mon. Are you sure He hasn't been whispering to you about "something" like that?

Remember, as I said above, I am not actually talking about us giving real money away eight or ten times a day. I am talking about all the rest we have to shower people with..... but often, don't.

Well we all have strengths and weakness for some it's easy to give money generously even if it hurts financially but where one is strong in that area they may be weak in another.

I'm 956% positive the Good Lord has never spoken to me. Can't say as I blame him either. If I had my choice, I'd ignore me, but I'm stuck with my nasty self.

I've seen you defend losers and underdogs too many times on this forum to ever believe that statement.

One of these days you'll have to define "loser" for me. That seems like a highly subjective term, and one I see you apply to people far too often. We'll discuss it one of these days.

There are "winners" in life, and people who just will never win. And the world very accurately and specifically labels them as such. You have to be going through life with your eyes closed not to see them everywhere.

If this person you know is walking with the Lord, then truly he is blessed...Scripture comes to mind, not let your left hand or right hand know what it is doing, may not of got that right but i am sure you know where i am coming from...xox...

Hmmm....how would you react if a stranger came up to you and gave you a quarter? I know some would be offended and question if they looked as if they needed the quarter. I personally wouldn't be offended, but I would wonder what their agenda is. It's sad but nowadays you have to think differently. Random acts of kindness are not common and so when they do happen, you're left wondering...

If you really think we are talking about giving away quarters, you obviously haven't read the thread.

So, I will assume you know better.

But, you are right, kindness today is rare and raises suspicion in the suspicious. We Christians need to diligently work to change that worldly perception. Who knows, while we leave people "wondering", they might begin to wonder about just who this Jesus we follow really is.
