Default Do you have any unusual or uncommon phobias?

If you do, don't be shy or embarrassed to say what it is. I'm not one to judge and hopefully others won't be either.

I have emetophobia (fear of vomiting.) Ever since I was a kid, I've been terrified of throwing up. Whenever I feel like I'm going to be sick, I really start to panic.

Sometimes I have dreams where I'm around someone who has a stomach virus or something and has threw up. After that, in the dream, I start to freak out thinking I'm going to catch what they have. Then I wake up and I'm so relieved it was only a dream.

    What about you?

I have a fear of drowning. It probably comes from two incidents in my childhood.

One, I almost drowned in a pool when a little girl friend told a guy I wasn't joking out there in the deep end, that I really COULDN'T swim. He dove in and saved me.

And the second was a "breath usage" test I was given. The nurse put the oxygen mask over my face, but forgot to turn on the oxygen. I almost turned blue, thinking this was what was supposed to be going on.

Fear of balloons popping. I can be around balloons just as long as no one is trying to pop them. My brothers grabbed me by the feet and continually dropped me into a large box of balloons to pop the all with my head.

Arachnophobia - stems from having to crawl under the house as a kid and being swarmed by black widow and brown recluse spiders.

Coulrphobia - fear of clowns. Stems from an uncle in a parade grabbing me when I was 4 years old and carrying me away. Clowns to this day get my fists clenched and ready to beat the snot out of something.

I don't like snakes so not sure if that is a fear of them or I just don't like them I know I don't want to touch them.

Fear of flying over water as what if the plane went down and stuck in the plane and drown so not sure if that is just afraid to fly over water or afraid of drowning in an enclosed space. I can swim but not if I'm locked into something.

Fear of someone just coming into the house so am I afraid of unlocked doors or the fact that strange people just walk into the house and yes, have had that happen several times during my life.

A kid once, a neighbor several times, and strange man I didn't know beginnings of Alzheimer's.

Just scary to have someone that doesn't normally belong in your house just walk in without knocking anytime day or night. Again maybe the fear is an unlocked door? My question is doesn't anybody knock anymore before entering a location that doesn't belong to them? Manners please...

coulrophobia isn't irrational; it's just common sense, because clowns are creepy.

If you end up running backwards screaming and flailing, that is a snake phobia. If you're smart enough to simply leave them to go about their business, that is not a phobia.

As for people walking into my house? Never been a problem. They'd need a key. (Same reason I knock on other people's doors. Just assume the door is locked. lol)

Nope. Nopenopenope. Bug phobia does not say "have to kill." Bug phobia says have to gasp loudly, flail my arms around, and run backwards until I hit a wall, and if the bug comes any closer, then I must push that wall back. (If I could push a wall back, my house would be five houses bigger by now. lol)

It is rational to kill wasp. It is not rational to try and push a wall backward just because a water bug, roach, silverfish, pillbug walks across the floor. (It is also not rational that I've got goosebumps and my stomach is flipping just thinking about them.)

Phobia only when the irrational happens as an automated response.

I have an unreasonable fear of drowning. I can swim fine but something in early childhood just made me really afraid of it. I'm not scared of water....just drowning. It seems like the worst death possible to me. I've also projected this fear on my kid....who loves water and I freak out over him being in water. I have to force myself to be reasonable. Watching the news lately has only made this worse.

well as per unusual fears or phobias alot of people fear different things,I have feared hospitals in the past but now my most unusual fear is to be destroyed body and soul by God,hell sounds scary but being non existent is far creepier than hell or anything else to me.
If you don't believe in true love then please don't tell me not to believe in it because I believe it to be real.

You might wanna reconsider that ideal.

i fear the hospitals, being admitted to them is a terror, thankyouverymuch, death, a person dying out of nowhere, spiders i don't know what's up with their life i can never understand them what they're trying to say, God bless them. Clowns are a turn around walk the other way why are you staring at them kind of case. Aaand i sometimes think someone is watching me trough the sides of the windows, someone peeping through there....

I have a fear of water, of being intubated(bad gag reflex), spiders..I'd sleep with a rattlesnake with a sore tooth before I would a spider.

I have fear of heights on rides at amusement parks IF I don't feel securely fastened in, Like FERRIS WHEELS. *Especially the double ferris wheels at a carnival! I rode it as a kid and almost fell out!

I'm not a bad guy. I'm just misunderstood.

I have a fear of blood. The sight of it makes my body go a little limp, and it feels like my heart drops a bit.
