New Wine Into Old Wine Skin,

That was the response by Him to His Critics who were
testing Him. So what does that mean? Is Jesus going
into the wine business and garment business. Of course
not. They were challenging Him on old traditions that He
and the apostles weren't observing. So Jesus answered
that way that the old laws and traditions were out of date.
And He, Jesus will be the new law. And once the law is
established, the old must be abolished. It is also ushering
in a new covenant. The time will come when there will
be only two commandments and those two will be love
the Lord your God with all your heart and your neighbor
as yourself. In these 2 commandments, all law becomes
fulfilled. I've often been asked, how can that be, do we
now not follow the ten commandments. Of course not.
In fact Jesus made them even stronger. But it does mean
that when you love as is outlined in most of the teaching
by Jesus that every commandment is taken care of.

I'm no theologian--as you can tell from my wording below--but I've spent some time thinking about this. Here's where I'm at on the topic:

Before the Pentecost people were supposed to live under the law--but they struggled to do God's will, instead getting caught up in ceremony and engaging in loopholes. [Old wine(man's heart), old wineskins(Mosaic law)]. Jesus summarized the law with two simple precepts: love God, love your neighbor. [new wineskins]. But if people (with hard hearts) couldn't live under the detailed Mosaic law, they certainly would fail in these two simple precepts. So Jesus also gave us the Holy Spirit [new wine].

With the Holy Spirit in our hearts to guide us (new wine) we can love God with all our heart, soul and mind; and love our neighbor as ourself (new wineskin).

Yes it was a part of the new covenant and not only part of it but
a very important part of it. God bless you.

Indeed brother, it's always been a important part even in the old covenant it was of great value.

Leviticus 19:18
'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD.

kind of like,If a person Is alive and yet In their body and their faith Is true,It will be acted on and not just In words.

Since GOD loved us we ought to love our brother.

Why are so many bible topics in Miscellaneous, instead of the BDF where they belong??
They are my personal meditations that I like to share with others if they
are interested. Just as I post poetry in the poetry section. I feel that
BDF is more of a discussion forum. This way those who appreciate just
reading can have that option. I do post other things on BDF where I
feel they should be. I don't know though really, perhaps I should post
them in BDF but when I started many months ago and made similar
posts, response was rare. Thanks for your opinion though and God bless.
