I'll start:

===========================

A friend of mine comes over occasionally to smoke cigars with me on the back porch, and have a bit of conversation. We discuss the bible, current events, and any trivial matters that cross our minds.

I asked him, "What would the world be like if Adam hadn't taken the apple from Eve?" My friend puffed on his cigar, thinking about it for a time, then he said "Well, I guess we men would all be walking around naked." :)

It trips me out when I say "Howdy" and someone replies, "Doing fine, how about you?"

I guess "How ya doing?" has become so standard a greeting that people automatically hear it when you didn't say it.

Anytime someone talks about the rapture the first thing that pops in my head is, "Jesus is coming... quick everybody look busy!!"

...people make strange/funny noises a few hours after eating a lot of beans.

...people make strange/funny noises a few seconds after guzzling down a pop...from a different orifice of their body!

Whatever the case, it'll usually make me...

Actually, that is what it means. People have short-cutted talking over the centuries.

Howdy is "How are you doing?"

Good-bye is "God bless you."

So, all your doing is finding retro people like me.

(And that's my excuse, and I'm sticking with it. Although, I'm serious about those two phrases. lol)

Well, if that serious opinion thought over deeply is funny to you, then let me share my serious opinions about men and women.

It was a woman who invented the tie. In revenge, men invented the bra.
:p

(Either that, or a man invented the bra first, and then woman got revenge.)

When I ask people how they are doing, they will usually say, "just like you I am living the dream." That seems to be a popular saying in my neck of the woods. :p

It the same strain, I always get disturbed when someone says "howyadoin'" as a greeting, without even waiting for or wanting an answer.

I switched to greeting my customers on my mail route with a simple "hello" or "good morning/afternoon etc.." because when I ask them how they are doing, I usually get the "gloom, despair and agony on me, deep dark depression excessive misery, if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all" type of response.

I just don't get it. :(

in our house, 'livin' the dream' is exclusively used in a sarcasti, er, i mean, ironical sense.

Yes, just living the dream is a sarcastic way of really meaning you're not really living the dream at all. ;)

act and fake it, instead of having the confidence to just live and tell it like it is'...
this brings major grief here...

do you think it depends? we're usually very open as a family, but with strangers or acquaintances, more reserved.

though i try not to wear a mask, there are some personal life details i prefer not to share with just anyone.

I was at a BBQ restaurant the other day standing at the counter waiting on my order when a customer (who knew the cashier) walked up and was asked by the cashier how they were doing and the customer replied, "just like you, I am living the dream." The cashier replied back, with eyes bugged out, " I don't know about that!" :D
