I have often wondered what it is my fellow CCers do for work. So in your responses please state your job title, if you are retired state what field you were in, if you are unemployed/disabled state the title you were in at your last job. Now, if you are still in school what field do you wish to get into. I figured its a good way to get to know one another :)

I consider myself semi-retired and for the past year I have worked at a coffee and accessory distribution center in St. Petersburg, Florida. I'm considering to securing a position in some capacity in manfacturing again sometime at the start of the new year as I am highly experienced in that sector. Hopefully, in a couple years I will be able to retire full time if we are able to relocate. We are thinking about Tennessee or Colorado. Of course, looking at mountains every day may become boring after awhile but the threat of hurricanes each year in Florida is becoming problematic, not to mention the traffic congestion.

Right now I am a full-time caregiver to my father. Technically I am unemployed and have been for the last 5 years, but I am very busy each day.

My last paying job was as a safety and health consultant. Before that, I was a safety specialist/industrial hygienist in charge of the safety programs for the 17 research farms Iowa State University oversees across the state, as well as an industrial hygienist for the asbestos abatement and management programs (I did visual inspections and read air samples via microscope).

I used to be a classical bassoonist, but ended up as a teacher. And I really enjoy it. I have a frozen disability benifit, but I will keep it frozen, because I enjoy what I do.

I'm a burger flipper. (Actually we don't flip them... the grill head comes down and cooks both sides of the burger at the same time. I'm a burger scraper, I scrape it up off the grill.)

Yup, that's all. I don't have a second job as a field consultant for a technology firm, I don't even have a second job. I just work at a fast food factory.

for the last several years i've been doing auditing & consulting part-time while working on an advanced mathematics degree, but recently i dropped auditing altogether ((boring stuff anyhow)) and put my degree on a bit of a hold to take a job as an analyst.

pretty generic, i know. i'm not supposed to give out information about my employers/customers data. :p

before all this i was a pipe organ builder for a number of years - much more exciting, right?

I work at a place where I call and try to get you to do a political survey over the phone. Damn people are just so rude sometimes when you call them. It's frustrating

It keeps me on my toes. No two days are alike. Thanks for the welcome. Art has been a lot of fun, if messy. I don’t mind getting dirty, but I have had to tell some kids not to freak out over getting paint on themselves (I must say “the paint is washable” about a hundred times a day).

New guy here. My first post.
I am just an old retired guy, 11 years now.
Before retirement I had 40 plus jobs in 40 plus cities.
The wife and I spent 45 years traveling this great country and loved every day of it.
Have you heard the saying, jack of all traded and master of none, that describes us.

I am a senior manufacturing engineering technician at a medical device manufacturing company. I keep the equipment running, and do continuous improvement on it, along with working with engineers to develop manufacturing processes.

The medical devices we make are neurostimulation devices for people with chronic pain.

I've been an equipment maintenance tech for nearly 35 years now, everything from plastic injection molding to semi-conductor...

Thanks for the welcome.
My career was traveling and taking long vacations.
Jobs were just a necessary distraction so we could buy gas and food.

My job is as a data compiler and analyst for a government bureau. No, it's not the IRS. It's not even the Canadian equivalent, but part of what I do is prepare invoice information so people can pay the government. Mostly, I just stare at MS Excel all day and try to make it more efficient at handling masses of data far beyond its original intent.
