A lot of people say that in order to become a Christian, you have to turn from sin. Is that Biblical? Do you know anywere in the Bible that says in order to be saved you have to first turn from your sin. What did the people of Acts 16 ask And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. Romans 11:6
Now wait a minute it turning from sin a work. Lets look at Jonah 3:10.
And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not. Jonah 3:10
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on thim that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Romans 4:5
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8
A gift is something you don't have to work for.
Yet so many religions require work to be saved. Pentacostles---believe their water baptism saves
Catholics---believe their sacriments and what not save.
Lutherens, presbertyrians, Methodists, Anglocans, Episcalpalians,---are yoked up with the Catholic and they all believe you can loose your salvation.
If you don't work to get your salvation, how do you work to maintain it?
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?---what was their own defense?...their own works. And I will Profess unto them, I never knew you: depart form me, ye that work iniquity. Notice He said, " I never knew you", not I once knew you.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 7:21 What is the will of my Father in heaven?
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:40
