we grew a 'butterfly-garden' with mostly Penta Plants,
many different species are very attracted to them,
plus the plants are very easy to maintain...we both
spent many hours these past two summers sitting
real close to them and relishing in their beauty...

Thanks for the pics...:):)

Hello!
When i first read ur post on penta plants, thought they were the santan we had around here. Some varieties look like Pentas, but the santan or Jungle flame, a common flowering shrub native to Southern India and Sri Lanka and here, have four petals only and very common in yellow and orange. Ive taken some shots of santan, but these arent my pictures. Very memorable, for as children, we competed with the butterflies, pulling off one small flower at a time and sucking the nectar after pulling the filament from under, and a drop of sweet juice came out from the short, narrow tube=)).

A few days ago, i saw some milky white egrets in the compound of a nearby institute, where ive never seen them there before... then again 2 days ago, i was walking with an old classmate at the back of the main library to their village, and there were 2 lost egrets again. We kind of wondered why they werent in their usual habitat.. My friend said, "I wish they'd stay and always be where we see them now!"

we all who know some things about 'nature' always notice certain things that
change from the norm: well, this year, in north Fla., after the hurricane, we have
lost so many of our normal birds and their babies, they just seem to have disappeared,..

with the abnormal winds of the hurricane,, we have deduced that there just could not be any normal way
that they could survive here, without being literally blown away, 'hopefully to another habitat
where they could survive... we miss them terribly, and are hopeful that they will return and continue
here in their normal breeding area...it may sound odd, but they are generational to our special place that we
have made for them to live a safe and normal life...we're praying that they remember just 'who' those
two bird-lovers were who have fed and loved them for many generations!!!

wonderful news to share,

today 2 bunties arrived to eat the bird seed that we had put out, one
was red and black, and the other, we believe his mate, was a beautiful.
shade of lime-green.

by the way, the extreme weather that we had, evidently didn't affect
the 'turkey' population in the least - our immediate back yard and pasture
are full of them, also the dear deers...:)

These grasses are all over here... but here is a place where they grow, with a beautiful sunrise.
